Hello, I am getting discouraged. I am in BMCC. (for RN Program) I had finished all my pre-req classes. But did not make it in the fall semester because I was not on 1199 union. They were chosen first. Why? If I don't make it into the spring 2011 I will be forced to look for another college. My GPA did go down a bit due to two online classes I have taken. These are my grades: A&P 1 and 2 A ( for each one) Psychology A Speech A Mat 104 B+ ( online class) BMCC Develop Psychology B+ ( online class) BMCC Microbiology B+ ( summer 1 class-- 5 weeks long) BMCC All other classes were A's from another college. I did not take chemistry.. gotten the approval from science dept. I did see Mr S from Nursing program and he said that I am on a waiting list for the fall and number 6. ( The program is already filled up) So, That does not sound promising. He told me not to give up and sign up for the program again in October for the spring semester 2011. I am 46 years old and running out of patience. Oh and now I am told after taking the Mat 104 class that I was not suppose to take it on line.. what the heck!!! why wasn't I told this before? And to let you know those classes online were time consuming and nerve wrecking when quizes were given. A hour glass was there counting down and not to mention you had 10 minutes to calculate 20 questions. I did well on the final cause I had 2 hours to do it. Grades were based on interactions with your peers. It was too much. Any suggestions? I was thinking on getting into occupational therapy at laguardia cc. Or take the LPN program at that college since I have taken all the required classes at BMCC. Does anyone know about the program? I work and need to. I am a Medical Assistant and Phlebotomist... looking for a better job.. I do have alot on my plate right now.. HELP... Meanwhile, I wait. Myleena

Hi everyone, I haven't been on this site for a while. I am taking my last class at BMCC ( microbiology). I took two classes online.. Dev Psy 240 and Mat 104. I really regret it. All my other classes I earned an A. But these two online ones I earned a B+ in each one. They were both writing Intensive and took up most of my time. The quizes were timed for 10 minutes to finish 15 questions of calculations.. I messed up badly due to me panicking about the timer.. but I did well on the Test and Final.. this brought down my average. I did not make it in the fall semester nursing program because of this. I was told that I am on a list to be called, hopefully. The program took all 1199 students, but I don't have 1199. What should I do? I was told that maybe I can make it into the spring 2011. I saw a nursing dept coordinator, can't mention his name on this site, I am sure everyone knows who he is. I was thinking on going to Laguardia Comm College for the LPN program, but need to know more about it.. will I be able to do this on a part time basis? I do need to work.. any advice will be helpful. I don't want to give up hope. I was even considering changing my major to Occupational Therapy at Laguardia. I am upset and disappointed that no one warned me about the online classes. It was then when I finished the course I was told by another student that the nursing dept does not want their pre-nursing students taking the Mat 104 on line.. which is the dosage calculations... it is too late... Thank you for your help.. I picked MAT 104 and PSY240 on line already. And Microbiology Sunday with I believe will be a professor who is suppose to be good. Who did you have for MAT 104? Just in case I find it difficult to take online. If we in same class for sunday, we can be lab partners.. Myleena

Hi, I heard that after completion of 2 RN clinical s you can take the test for the LPN.. is this true? I am in Borough of Manhattan Comm College for my RN. That would be great for me to pass the test and become an LPN while working on my RN degree. If this is true, which NUR clinicals need to be completed? I need advice on whether or not to take my MAT 104 Math for Health Sciences online or campus? If on campus who is a good professor for that class? And for Developmental Psychology 240... online or campus? Who is good on campus? I will be taking Microbiology as well... maybe a saturday or sunday class. I will be at BMCC monday the 16 for academic advisement and register for my classes Any advice will help... Myleena

Thank you for the heads up.. I had looked up the professors at Ratemyprofessor and there is mixed reviews on some professors... not sure what to believe...

Hi everyone, I haven't been on this site for a while. Almost forgot how to post a thread. I am in BMCC now and have 3 classes to take before I am accepted into the nursing program.. I am so happy.. My GPA is 4.0:yeah: I was thinking on taking Mat 104 and Dev Psych 240 online. Microbiology need to know who is a good professor. I plan on taking classes in the evening and maybe a Sat. I have a question concerning Porta Medic.. I had worked for Exam One for 3 years then left... Now I am trying to get into Port a medic and they want me to do some training and a online test of 4-6 hours long at home. Wow... I didn't go through all that for Exam One. Did anyone go through this? If so, tell me about it please.. I am a little nervous.. I want to just work for them as a paramedical examiner... by going to clients jobs and homes collecting blood and urine.. paper work of course and vitals too. I recently graduated with a AAS degree in Medical Assisting too.. looking for part time work.. If anyone is at BMCC please tell me your experiences at college and in the nursing Program.. Like how the Nursing Program Professors are.. and what to expect... Myleena

Hello, I know it's been a while. I finally start my classes next week at BMCC. I was wondering if anyone has taken 2 classes per semester. I am taking Mat 104 and Anat PhsyII this semester then Microbiology and Dev. Psych in the fall. Will I be able to apply for the Nursing program for Jan 2010 (spring)? Has anyone done this? Has anyone taken Howard Bullard for Mat 104? The Mat 104 online class is full can't get in. Is he good? I am going to classes in the evening. I really want to start the Nursing Program in Next Spring. I don't want to take my last two courses at the same time as the Nursing Program classes. Thank you all. Myleena:yeah:

Thank you for all your advice. Are you almost finished with the clinicals? How was it? Which professor did you have? I plan on picking the afternoon hours, I hope the college lets me. I don't want the morning or evening. Did you have to wait after you did your prerq's to start the clinicals? How long? I know it's been a while since my last post been dealing with personal things. I will however start in Jan 09. I plan on taking AnatPhyII in class and Math for healthsciences (online) Then, Microbiology in class and Dev Psy in Sept. Do you think that the college will allow me to add art classes as well? I like to paint and draw. I have no electives. I am wondering if me taking 2 classes each semester will affect my GPA to get into the RN Program. Any Advice will help. Whats your status now? I know you Aced all your classs. Nursing is hard but, it's rewarding in many ways. I work as a Medical Asssitant and it can be rough at times but, I love the feeling of making patients happy and comfortable. Hi all, I was just diagnosed with Left Ventricular Dysfunction. EF was 77%. This was due to my high blood pressure not being controlled. I am suppose to start college in Jan 2009 for the RN Program. I am devastated, I feel like my dream of becoming a nurse is shattered. My doctor didn't notice my symptoms until I fainted and was admitted to hospital. Prior to that incident i lost 35 lbs and was doing well. I also was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes a couple of months before being admitted to hospital. I am controlling the diabetes with diet and exercise. My doctor has put me on 2 different meds, not working as it's suppose to. So, she is looking into another med. I will be getting another Echo--with a dye in it to see if any blockage is there. Then a stress test later. Cause I still get dizzy and faint when walk half a block. I have so many disadvantages against me right now, Age 44, Neuropathy in feet. I have only 4 classes to take before I am admitted to the RN Program. OH, plus I am hearing impaired. My question is: Will any one hire me with my conditions? I feel so lost right now.

Hello, It's been a while since I last posted to this thread. I was suppose to start BMCC Spring of 08, unfortunately had a family emergency. I was wondering if anyone has went to BMCC on a part time basis. I want to start classes Jan 2009 part time. My plans were to take these classes in Jan 2009: Bio 420 Microb, and Mat 104 math for health sciences. Then, in Fall 2009--- Bio 425 anat&psy2 and Psych240 develope psych After completion then I can apply for the clinicals in 2010. I contacted by phone and email Transfer advisement office Rebecca Li she confused me. Can any one let me know if my options are right? These are the only classes I need to take before being accepted in the nursing clinicals/classes. I plan on going during the day. Any input on professors would greatly help me. Thank you, Myleena

I just got my acceptance letter to attend BMCC. I am frustrated. No one can seem to answer my simple question. I have 4 classes to take before I get into the Nursing Clinicals. A&PII, MAT 104 (Math for Health Sciences), Microbiology, and Dev Psych. I asked if I can take 2 classes in the spring 08, and the other 2 in the fall 08. Then, apply for the Nursing Program Clinicals for spring or fall 2009. I keep getting the run around. One person suggests that I speak to someone else then that person says for me to speak to another person. I want to take A&PII and Dev Psy in the spring, then Mat 104 and Microbiology in the fall both in 2008. You see both semesters I will be in campus for one class and on line for the other. I Emailed Mr. Sierra and he stated that I needed to be advised by one of the faculty in the Nursing table. What? What does that mean? He didn't even give me any contact names or numbers. Heeeeelllllppppp.

Hi again, I went to BMCC and was frustrated. They lost all my papers from the time I went to Open House in Oct. Not only that in the Admissions dept a rep was very rude to me. He didn't even look at me when he spoke to me the whole time i was sitting next to him. He became annoyed and angry. I treated him with respect, but, I expect to be treated as I treat others. All this has discouraged me from wanting to attend BMCC. To top it of they can't find the proof I had given them on approval of a class that was approved by the speech dept for me not to have to take that class again since I had taken it at my previous college. I was thinking on going to laguardia CC, until I found out that we have to experiment on a cat for Human Biology I and II. I love cats, and dogs. I now refuse to go to Laguardia CC. Any advice? I hope that Beth Israel School Of nursing doesn't experiment on cats or dogs. Myleena:uhoh3::angryfire
