What Certifications are available for the Home Health Nurse Now? And is the HHNA worth joining?

Thanks!

The only certification that I was aware of was discontinued some time back. Don't know of any that has taken its place. Don't see much of a reason to join professional organizations unless you anticipate being active in them.

I joined the HHNA a couple of years ago, and as far as I'm concerned it's worth it for the publications alone. I get the Home Health Nurses Journal and Caring, both of which I enjoy and frequently share with other nurses. It also looks good on a resume when you are active in your professional organizations. I'm also a member of ANA and my state affiliate.

For home health, consider the COS-C (OASIS) certification. The ANCC no longer offers the cert for home health nursing, although those who are currently certified can still renew.

Thanks! I think it is sad the ANA dropped the Home Health Certification it is really needed because HH nursing is so different from other nursing.

Agree with you on this one.

For Oasis Certification, does anyone know the difference between COQS offered online through Fazzi and COS-C offered through Oasis Answers? In which instances in home health would one be more beneficial over the other? Thanks!

For LPN, IV certification is something many agencies look for. I should get that, high in demand and pays well
