I start my program in January!!!

Its taken me a year to just get my pre-req's out of the way and I know there are certain things I have forgotten. What should I brush up on before I start my program?

Cranial nerves, organ functions, circulatory system.....these are amongst my first thoughts, any adivce would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to hit the ground running.

Also what stethascopes are high quality. SHOES....which are the most comfortable?

Until then, I have to pass this OChem class! :uhoh3:

I will be attending Palomar College in January. I didn't know Azusa had a campus in SD!

Good luck :nuke:

I was so hung up on brushing up on everythng I could before getting in. I must say, it was so useless because nursing school is so different from any pre requisite you will take. I am not sure anything can really prepare you for nursing school. :lol2:

SHOES....which are the most comfortable?

Find out what you can have before you buy. I love Crocs too but we aren't allowed to wear any kind of clog shoes. We have to wear all white and it has to cover the whole foot, front and back.:o I wear Reebok princesses and I love them.

What you really should brush up on is to see a bunch of movies you haven't seen and/or read a few books for fun before your program!

What I think would be a valuable thing to do would be to start making yourself some "Pathophysiology Cards", get yourself some different colored 4X6 cards (use different colors for different systems) and start doing some research on the web on some diseases/conditions. It will really help when you start clinicals/classes and will also be good information all through your program. When I did clinicals, we had to write up cards on each disease our patients had...I still do this with odd diseases I come across and have a stack that I refer to occasionally.

Make it a fun exercise...the assignment is, if you aren't having fun, don't do it...you have plenty of time ahead of you for work, do this for the fun of it!!!

:lol2::lol2::lol2:

VERY IMPORTANT...brush up on what your friends look like...brush up on how much you love your family...watch allllllll your fav TV shows 'cuz you won't see them again for a few years...brush up on free weekends...brush up on late wake mornings and early bed nights...enjoy life...try to hoard as much good life as you can...don't be impatient about ANYTHING...take your time, don't hurry...you will have PLENTY to study your first night of your first class! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE nursing school it is just very demanding!:uhoh3:

Good Luck!
