Isn't THAT the truth....... :angryfire I just hate it when my family members ask for advice, then ignore it and do whatever the hell they want to, and then when they get sick anyway and have to go to the doctor, they say "Dr. Lear said exactly the same thing you did......." :uhoh3:

I second this. One of my relatives is notorious for that kind of a behavior.

People that walk through the halls of my ICU and LOOK into every room they pass by.

Abusive parents or just all around weird family dynamics. Some people are just creepy and sometimes, no matter what we do, kids go back home when its not always the best option.

And the behavioral psych people who act like nursing procedures are an *inconvenience* and prattle on about how nonproductive it is for us to interrupt session.

Yeah, if you don't want your kid to have Haldol/Thorazine/Depakote/Adderal/whatever, I'll be more than happy to watch you continue to get beaten to a pulp.

:angryfire My biggest pet peeve is that certain people look down at me for being a CNA. They say that all I do is wipe people's @sses and change dirty linens and bedpans, but being a CNA is more than that. I've been told by certain people that CNA's do the "sh*twork". Don't get me wrong, I like being a CNA and yes I have plans to move up in the medical field. But it makes me mad that people look down on CNA's. It takes a strong, caring person to take care of residents who can't care for themselves and somebody has to do the job.

I've been also told that anyone can be a CNA and do the work, but the job is not for everybody. Today, CNA's have to be a highschool graduate and most hospitals are delegating tasks to aides that RNs/LPNs are allowed to do. But, I'm a CNA and will never give up. :balloons:

When a doctor tells a patient that he's going to write an order for something like a new diet and within 5 minutes the patient and their family wants to know where's the meal tray? and the doctor hasn't even turned the chart back in yet!

Some people can be so impatient and unreasonable. :uhoh3:

Hey Kitkat. I am a nurse, but I was a CNA for a long time first and I did enjoy being a CNA and when I worked in the nursing home, I helped the CNA's when I could. CNA's are very important. They are our eyes and ears. They see these people more than the nurse does, especially in homecare. No one has the right to call you anything but professional. I wish you the best in your career advancement.

the rule is, you do NOT wear them out of the room. ICK.

Next time someone says that to you, reply "Well i don't wipe ALL ***es, because there's just some people you can't tell the difference between their faces and their butt, NAMELY you". It puts a stop from those comments from that person.

:) Hi Heartsofangels! That's what my CNA instructor always told us,"CNAs are the eyes and ears of the medical field. Never let anyone tell you that 'You're just a CNA.' They do a very important job and see the patients more than the RNs/LPNs." I'm proud to be a CNA, it's too bad that certain people look down on such an excellent, hardworking profession. I'm doing honest work; I don't prostitute or steal for a living. I get appreciated so much by the hospital patients at my volunteer job. Sometimes I get looked down at and taken advantage of by a few staff members; but I know they couldn't live without us. Volunteers/candystripers do a very important job at the hospitals and they're part of a team.

Teamwork is the #1 way to get work done efficiently. I love my volunteer job and I'm working to get a CNA job there. Plus I'm taking PCT classes next summer. I don't let anyone try to use me at the hospital just because I'm a volunteer. There are some things we're not allowed to do such as push wheelchairs or stretchers with severely obese people in them. (We can have 2 staff members help us with stretcher transfers) But the staff has to push the bariatric wheelchairs for the heavy patients. It's because one volunteer gave out her back pushing a patient who weighed 600lbs, and she didn't get covered for it. I just tell the nurse at the desk discretely that my boss doesn't allow volunteers to push heavy patients. Sometimes they get snooty and say things like it's my job, but I tell them firmly to call my boss. As a CNA, I'll have to transfer and lift heavy patients, but volunteers don't get covered in case they get hurt.
