What are acceptable scrub colors for guys?

Nurses Men

Published

I just interviewed for a CNA job (my first ever) and my hopefully-soon-to-be manager said that I could basically wear what ever kind of scrubs I wanted. So what are some good scrub colors for dudes? I was going to go with mostly solid colors, but I really don't know what will look acceptable. At this establishment, the various professions aren't color-coordinated either, so that's not an issue. What color/type scrubs do you guys wear (especially as CNA's)?

Oh! And what about pockets? I figured they'd be handy but a fellow male nursing student gave me crap for pockets (something about guys not wearing scrubs with pockets...?). Thoughts?

Cheers!

oh I soooo wanna see that vintage dress on some of the male nurses I know (especially my DH) !

blue, white, dark purple, black, gray. Men tend to stay away from the flowery scrubs, with the pinks.

As a CNA and a male, I wear navy and ciel blue, khaki, and wine/burgundy. Next time I pick up scrubs, I will probably get some forest green and maybe some olive drab. A nice charcoal or "pewter" might be good, too.

On a related note, do you guys usually wear matching tops/bottoms or do you mix and match the colors? Sometimes I'll mix the darker and lighter colors so I don't look too "dark" but I usually just wear the same color.

Any sources on less feminine printed scrubs? I don't really want flowers with asian characters or cutesy smiley faces on my scrubs...

I shun away from all white (shows too much), all black (older pts see it as a sing of death), all red (blood or pagan worship), and all orange (prisoner). I usually wear gray, navy blue, ciel blue, or a combo of them. Mixing black, red or orange is fine as long as it isn't the main thing. Good luck!

Straight black head to toe. Looks very professional and is our school uniform color/internship location colors. If not that then I usually wear royal blue. I tend to wear trauma pants instead of scrub bottoms because I have yet to find a pair that I like.

I'm a CNA and at my hospital they make the aides wear maroon scrubs.... If it was me, I would stick to darker colors. maroon, navy, grey...ect.

as for pockets, go crazy! pockets will be your bff! I have cargo pant scrub bottoms with pockets down the sides of my legs and my tops have 5 pockets. yes, there are pockets on my stomach. haha
