WGU Prelicensure CA May 16

Published

Hi all,

Is anyone applying for the prelicensure RN program in CA with a May start date? I just finished submitting my application, so the waiting begins. I'd love to hear from others, and good luck to us all!

So I completed day 1 of labs in Santa Ana. It was good to meet other students in person.

How was it? Was it pretty easy?

Yes it's not hard. I just need to practice performing the skills and make sure I'm ready for the test next week

How did you do on the assessment test? Did you have to go step by step for all 38 topics?

I passed! No we are only tested on 3 skills. The instructor narrowed down which ones we will need to prepare to be tested on

Hi!

I'm considering applying to this program. As far as the prerequisites, do you have to take those through WGU? Thanks!!

No the prereqs must be completed elsewhere. I completed my AS degree and nursing prereqs at my local college, WGU had a couple other specific prereqs after reviewing my transcripts that I then took through straighterline and CLEP testing. An enrollment count can give you the details on everything.

Hi meme8883! How is the program going? I bet you've started your clinicals by now. We are in the Intro to nursing course now and preparing for the bootcamp clinical Dec 8th-9th. Anything to prepare us for that? I'm hoping it feels like my CNA training/exam, only really packed in (I did that over 3 months, lol!)

Are the labs days basically working in pairs on the clinical skills in the simulation lab all day? Thanks!

Hello! Yes the program is going well. Got the official acceptance into the program after the first 'preterm'. I have my first lab of this term on nov29 and two more lab days in dec. I start hospital clinicals in Jan! Boot camp was not bad at all. They go over all the skills -and you are only tested on 3. We worked as a group in boot camp but on test day we were paired. Each person is scored on their own.
