  1. Yes ------------- is my mentor she's great. Can't wait to meet you at labs! Since we can't post names here will have to think of another way to figure out who eack other are lol I know I'll be in solid black scrubs with the company logo that I work for. And my hair up probably in my famous nurse bun lol
  2. Omg I love my mentor and biochem is challenging but I love it. On task 2, passed task 1 with no issues. Feel like I'm behind? But I'm working away doing a lil every day so it's not overwhelming at all. How are you doing Grenledgal? You started sept 1 too right? Can't wait to meet others at labs in December so i can feel like I'm part of a class lol
  3. Seaside28 No the prereqs must be completed elsewhere. I completed my AS degree and nursing prereqs at my local college, WGU had a couple other specific prereqs after reviewing my transcripts that I then took through straighterline and CLEP testing. An enrollment count can give you the details on everything.
  4. Me too, Sept 1st is fast approaching
  5. Vivander congrats!!!!! Yes I am in too. I am a respiratory therapist by sidetrack lol, I originally dud prereqs for RN but years ago couldn't deal with the wait lists so sidetracked to RT, love it but I have 2 other kiddos in the house starting their prereqs for nursing and my 17yr old will start prereqs in January, so I figure mom better do this first lol... yep there will be 3 college students in this house, 4 come January crazy!!!! Can't wait, good to meet you
  6. $25,000 is very affordable being West coast university charges $130,000 and has a wait list....
  7. Alicia, I was accepted into the sept cohort and NOW I am stressing lol, I work per diem so I can adjust my schedule down to as few as 3 days a month if need be.... what I am most stressed about is.... do you feel the program is doable with 3kids and working 24hrs a week (2 shifts)? I am a single mom but have tons of support, 3 of my children are adults, 2 which live within a mile and help out with childcare already, a 17yr old at home that also helps out, so just a toddler and preteen that I'm most concerned about spending time with between classes ...and my parents live a mile away, I just am nervous keeping up my grades and still giving my kids ample attention with their own academics I am not afraid of the class work, I enjoy school and the challenge, I went through a challenging medical program 8 years ago as a single mom of 5 at home and the commitment was 2 12hr clinicals a week plus 3 8-5 days of classes which didn't cover study time.... but I am working this time around and prefer not to take out loans to cover my mortgage lol... I would like to hear from other single mom's or any working mom's that are in the program....
  8. You have a seat in the prelicensure program and need to finish nursing skills first. If they accepted 20 applicants and 3 fail to pass nursing skills I assume the prelicensure program then has 17 students in that cohort... I would assume it is the same way the entire program, because you can only proceed as long as you pass the classes as you go. This is pretty much how most medical programs work, if you fail 1 class in the semester you cannot proceed but instead have to wait till next round to attempt the failed class and if you do pass (this would most likely be a spot in the January cohorts classes) you are now in that cohort and not your original cohort. I am not sure this is how wgu does it but it is exactly how the nursing program at my local colleges work. Unless by fluke several students fail the same term, there is usually the expectation and provisions made to allow a student to retake their failed class in the following cohorts term (I have yet to read where wgu does not allow a student to reattempt a failed class)
  9. I loved it, I did it in combination with the A&P class. If done this way I recommend doing them together instead of one then the other, because some of the labs are timed.... I did use youtube a lot for the fetal pig dissection so I knew exactly what cuts and what the anatomy I was looking for would look like so not to mess up my pig for future labs and they were very detailed and helpful. In all the class and lab combined took me 17 days to complete with 89%, I was very angry with myself because it would have been a solid A if I followed youtube from the first lab and researched some of the questions better. After the 3rd lab I began to really expand on my answers and I think that's what they are looking for. Hope this helps you, take your time and look ahead on some of the labs, so you have everything needed such as lab print outs (I pruned out everything so I could write out everything first) and can assess how much time you need to set aside. I could get 2-3 labs done in a productive afternoon & would type out everything online after my kids went to bed. Hope this helps
  10. Teas is only part of the decision process, with s high gpa you ate a strong candidate, not to mention most adn programs go by points &wait lists so if you do the schools required prereqs you should eventually get a seat
  11. Lol i swear I don't know where my head was grenledgal, I thought this was for the may cohort. Don't ask me where my head was????? Probably trying to process the news
  12. Yay congrats grenledgal !!!
  13. Esj87 Only the straighterline final A&P is moderated, and the final doesn't have much weight. I finished it in may, good luck!
  14. Esj87 I think you have a high possibility of getting in. I got in for the sept 16 cohort and didn't think I would due to a lousy teas score.... but I did!!! I think my medical experience and gpa is what got me in because the teas sure didn't lol
  15. Thank you meme!!!
