Mimi I am in the prelicensure program in CA. Currently in term 2 (5 total). What would you like to know?

Meme8883 how are you liking the prelicensure program? I have a friend asking me about it but I only did the RN to BSN course.
How are the clinicals structured? How is it overall?

Here is a sample schedule of the entire 5 year program:

SO basically the areas that state labs, clinicals, assessment just make sure your schedule is free. If it is white that means nothing is going on during that time frame and you just work on your online didatic courses. All exams are proctored some exams (the corse nursing classes) need to be taken at a certified ATI testing site.

i have a lot of questions. Thank you in advance for answering them.
Are you working? Full time or part time? What is your personal opinion on working full time during this program so far. I do understand about being available for the clinicals quarterly.
My admissions rep sent me a email with the program guide which listed the classes for each sesmester. Are these classes one at a time or muliple at a time ?
How many hours do your personally devote to studying?
Are there video lessons or all reading?
What are the most common complaints from yourself and others in your cohort about the program?

- I work full-time. My manager has been so great about giving time off when needed.

- Everyone in my cohort works full-time. It's very doable. Most are parents with children.
- Your course mentor will give you a time frame when each one should be done. However, you just need to finish everything by the "hard stop" (mid semester or the end of the semester) for nursing core/clinical classes (fundamentals, med-surge, OB/Peds, etc). The non clinical classes professions roles, care of older adult you have until the end of the semester. So the classes that you have for the semester you can work on all of them at the same time or one at a time. I try to do them one at a time with my main focus on the nursing core classes because if you do not pass that you do not move on with your cohort.
15-20 hours a week
- Yes, in the course of study it will include the e-text (comes free with the class) and all the resources you will need to do well in each class. I also utilize khan academy and YouTube A LOT if I need visuals. Each class usually has a pacing guide you do week to week with all the things you need to read/do. It's up to you to follow it or modify it for your own pace.
- Not getting the clinical hours in a timely manner, but this honestly most nursing programs. For some students, the online environment is just not for them. I honestly love it each week I know what I need to do and what I need to accomplish. Majority of the core nursing classes you need to pass the ATI exam for each one. It's basically your final. I would say if you can transfer in statistics and biochem you would save yourself some headache. I heard a lot of people complaining about these classes, but you can transfer them over from another college.
You can PM if you have anymore questions. I'll be glad to answer them :)
Thank you so much!

Hey, are you currently in the program? I'm looking to apply to the California in July.
