Anyone applying to Westminster this year? I know their clinicals are a little all over the place, but does anyone know if all the states belong to the compact nursing license states? Anyone have advice on interviews for them? Thanks!

Hello !!
Yes, I applied. AHHH so nerve racking....
I turned in the last of the documents today.. I've been writing and rewriting everything a million times and so nervous to submit...lol
What kind of experience do you have and are you local to Utah or a distant traveler like me?
From what I understand they got less than 100 apps in 2016, so probably not too many people gonna respond to the thread. Do you know anything about application the process with this school?
I guess last year they had 155 applicants but only 90 were complete. I don't know a whole lot. Just what's been posted.
Oh wow that's a lot more than I was hoping to hear about...lol
90 complete with 18 spots... 20% odds...
oh geezus... I'm a bit worried because I barely meet criteria. I've got 1 year ER and 1 year ICU now here in Los Angeles. And I'm in a small hospital-busy and high acuity but still small. I do have my CCRN but I imagine most people applying already got that as well. I have a 3.9 GPA but I bet most people have that covered too.
Do you have a lot of CC experience?

Almost to year 3. Your GPA is great!
And that's better odds than some other schools!
Thank you, and I suppose you're right about the 1:5 odds. I just hope my lack of experience doesn't hurt me too bad. Anyway, all we can do is wait now. I wonder how many apps they got this time around. Not too many people chiming in here, but you have to imagine everyone who did apply is searching for a thread like this.
Curious, did you apply to other programs? I never took the GRE nor want to learn calculus so I am kind of limited on places I can apply. It is such a silly requirement in my opinion.
I need to write out a different statement for other schools and this one was difficult enough, not to mention fitting on to one page was nearly impossible. lol

I know Fresno, CA is one of their sites, and CA is not a compact state.
It would require applying to the CA BRN and California is the SSSSLLLLLLOOOOWWWWWEEEESSSTTTT board in the country. Give yourself months of application time--not even joking.
"*eNL Compact states include: Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wyoming
Walk-Through States
If your assignment is in a walk-through state, you have the option of walking into the Nursing Board in that state, presenting the necessary documents, and being issued a license on the spot. Here are the caveats: (CA BOARD IS IN SACRAMENTO AND PROBABLY NOT WALK-THROUGH)
Check the Nursing Board's website and call in advance to be sure you bring the correct documentation with you to receive your license. Remember that every state is different, so documentation may vary from state to state - always have two forms of ID!
Some documents you need could take time to acquire, such as license verification from other states.
Even though you can show up at the Nursing Board and get a license then and there, you must allow time to prepare the documents you'll need.
Make sure you can go to the Nursing Board several days before the start of your assignment in case there is a problem with your documents. If you wait until the last minute, your assignment could be delayed or canceled if you cannot get your license for any reason."
Where did you get this info?

Yes, I applied to Gonzaga and Midwestern. Also working on applications to OHSU and Samuel Merritt. I took the GRE two years ago when OHSU required it, kinda bombed the quant portion. I actually know a couple of people that are in your shoes...only applying for programs that don't require it. I hope more programs do away with it.
I hear you about the personal statements. Not my favorite.
I'm also working on the OHSU application. Luckily I found a research paper from my undergrad stored in an old external hard drive. That saved a lot of time...lol
Then I saw their "optional" response question, which means you have no option and you'd better answer it...lol. It's like a whole new short essay. Sheeeesh.
I did notice your comment on the Gorgonzola (or whatever cheese it's named after) 2019 thread. It looks like you have a good GPA also and have some experience with the application/interview process. Good luck on that one, I'm sure it wasn't fun interviewing and then waitlisted.
I missed the Gorgonzola application date because I didn't have my CCRN until literally 3 days ago...lol. But hopefully I get in to one of these 2 schools. I am also going to apply to Union, but it's a SUPER religious school and that's not really my bag.

I have heard that Cali is slow. I had a friend that moved there after school and it took months just for her to take the NCLEX and then more time to get her license.

I found a paper on my hard drive too. Hopefully it is good enough.
Gorgonzola 2019-- You got auto corrected! It made me snort laugh! Which I completely need right now. I didn't get an invite from them this year... I assume they are done sending out invites-last year they sent them all in an afternoon. I am a bit confused since I had received good feedback from last years application and had done all the things they look for to stay competitive. I am pretty devastated. I do have a decent GPA. Hoping that will help with the other applications.
