Well, I thought this day would never come, but the application period for Western U's MSN-E program starts a week from today!
I'm beyond nervous, as I've been working on this career change for over three years now. Every time I write a little of my personal statement I get a little shaky. This is so unlike me too, I'm usually cool as a cucumber.
Anyone else here planning to apply for 2012? Are you as nervous as I am?
Since Western was (still IS! ha) my number one choice, I was trying to time the applications to other schools. Which is still somewhat frustrating now since I could still get an acceptance at any time! Ill be applying to National University and a community college this month and then some schools in New York in the fall (NYU and University of Rochester) if none of the above come through. If worst comes to worst Ill apply to Western again for next year. Hopefully, since I was an alternate this year Ill get even more consideration for next year! :)
Jungdt, where did you get an acceptance? Why did you choose that school over Western? good luck on your nursing journey!
I am a prospective student and looking into considering WesternU to apply to this coming fall for the following year. I am a local girl born and raised in Hawaii and received my undergraduate degree here also. Can anyone tell me about the Pomona area and any information they received from attending information sessions at WesternU?
Why did all of you select WesternU as a program to apply to? And how far ahead were all of you in researching different Master's Entry Programs before actually applying?
I started investigating MSN-E programs at least three years ago. I decided on Western because of their focus on humanism, efforts to provide for medically underserved communities, and their emphasis on interprofessional collaboration. Once I went to a couple of info sessions and talked with both faculty and current students, I knew it was the right school for me. It's small, and it seems like every single employee is dedicated to making sure their students succeed.
As far as the Pomona area... I won't lie, it's not great. Claremont is nearby, and much safer. BUT, Pomona provides an excellent location for working with underprivileged patients. There are lots of great communities nearby, but I personally wouldn't live in Pomona.
