  1. Although I am waiting to hear from one more school this year (which I will find out today or tomorrow), I am in the process of thinking about how I am going to approach this new application season if need be. Trust me on this that it is never to early to start! Last year when I was looking to apply, I began looking around this time at colleges before putting my essays and applications together (I think the essays were the toughest part) aside from the amounting cost to apply to the different graduate schools. The schools you are applying for seem to be common schools i've noticed others have been applying for. Have you considered schools on the on the western part of the states?
  2. Does anyone know how I can use the PM option on this site? I seem to be able to receive PMs but i'm unable to send any messages out? :0( What does it mean to have 15 successful posts?
  3. @DC275, I am indeed from the islands too. I am actually on the Big Island working at the University. @NHmama, sorry to hear the result. I do wish you luck in your future endeavors. I actually have yet to go home from work to see if I have received mail. @NHmama & DC275, you both are amazing for wanting to pursue higher education with little ones around. I give you much props!!! In my case, I applied to very few schools due to the whole class expiration for mainland schools (5 years) or not having classes transfer or any recent experience in the health field (as I currently work in the Education field). I was not accepted to the school I really wanted to go to (Seattle U) and Manoa is the last school I am waiting to hear from. This will actually help me determine what my next steps are in terms of either attending manoa, or going back to community college to retake and take new courses to apply to more schools this upcoming application season and possibly look into more health occupation fields. I really wish the best of luck to everyone and the continued support and guidance that everyone shares. @DC275 and NHmama, do you both have back up plans considering that both of you only applied to UH Manoa? I think that ever since i turned in applications last Nov-Dec, coming up with a back up plan for myself has been extremely difficult.
  4. That's super great! I like to hear news like this :0) I look forward to doing more research on Western as I continue my route to finding my way towards graduate school.
  5. I wish everyone the best of luck...it's been a long wait. DC275, are you from Oahu?
  6. that makes me nervous :0/
  7. oh wow :0) Congratulations!!! How did you feel about the overall application process and the help the staff at the University have provided you with?
  8. Wow you applied to several schools! This year I applied for Manoa, Seattle U and Univ. of Portland and could only put in half of my application to Western (due to missing courses). This was my first time applying to grad school and I did not expect to spend so much...just to apply :0/ Univ. of Portland suspended their program and I was rejected by Seattle U and have Manoa left to hear from that will help me decide what steps I will take next (Since I did not necessarily plan a back up plan). Congratulations on being accepted to the programs! I've found that a lot of Programs require science courses to have a yr limit, as this pretty much sets a little complication to my situation where I will need to retake courses over again to ensure that I am within the limit guidelines. In terms of funding for school, UH Manoa would be ideal since I was born and raised on the islands and have not yet left...but I think attending school in the mainland would be beneficial for me (for an island girl to move out of her comfort zone and really grow as a person and see what is out there). I'm not actually sure how to PM you or if I am allowed to use the PM section on this site. do you have a facebook or email I could message you at if I have any questions?
  9. Thank you for the information! Are you currently in the program or have applied? I greatly appreciate it :0) Hopefully I am able to visit the school sometime as I continue my research for programs to apply to.
  10. I am a prospective student and looking into considering WesternU to apply to this coming fall for the following year. I am a local girl born and raised in Hawaii and received my undergraduate degree here also. Can anyone tell me about the Pomona area and any information they received from attending information sessions at WesternU? Why did all of you select WesternU as a program to apply to? And how far ahead were all of you in researching different Master's Entry Programs before actually applying?
  11. @wpolorocker: what other universities did you apply to and did they have similar requirements to UH (without the 5 year exp on science courses)? For me, waiting for UH determines if I start making a back up plan to re-take courses (if needed esp science courses) and start doing research again for other universities who offter Master's Entry programs (as new applications for the following year will be up in a couple months). I kind of wish I had a counselor at this point to help me guide through this process (it's like Junior/Senior Year in High School ALL over again). Does anyone have advice for me??? @MissHolland, Congrats on your graduation!!! Where are you from?
  12. is anyone on here waiting on this program? as in getting or not getting in the program will determine your next step and you are on hold until you find out?
  13. For those not living in Hawaii, during Spring break all University of Hawaii Campuses are on "Green Week", which means that they will be closed for the most part. So I believe...we will hear from them by the end of this week, if not :0/ first week of April. This week seems to be a bit LONGER than how a typical work week would go. I hope everyone is hanging in there as I am trying to keep a cool head and just take each day as it comes.
  14. how is everyone holding up?
  15. Hi everyone...i'm new to this thread and i'm also fairly new to this site after registering. after reviewing everyone's blogs...i just want to say I am on the same boat...i applied to the MEPN program and i am trying to patiently wait to hear the news. how is everyone doing on the wait? as the end of March nears...it's starting to be more stressful than eager to hear the news :0( has anyone applied to other schools or knows of other schools with similar requirements?
