Western University of Health Science MSN Entry Level 2016

Published

Hello all,

Who else is applying to the MSN Entry level 2016? I've decided to create this thread as I have not seen any new threads for 2016 start date.

jdeba,

I will be volunteering that day and representing the current cohort :)

See you on the 18th!

I'll also be attending the early acceptance day on the 18th!

Aw you're so lucky!! I interviewed on that day as well, but still am waiting. I don't have a healthcare background exactly, I was turned towards nursing in 2013 after length research and a passion to change my life and do something better, Western looks like such an ideal program - I am hoping to receive an acceptance too. Crossing fingers for me, and very happy for you!

Not sure.. But there are 20ish people in each I believe. It was a good day. They did say they could invite us back if they wanted another interview. Mainly to get to know us better..

Just a FYI, I got a regular interview invitation for Feb 25th. Congrats to everybody who has gotten in.

How was EAOD? Did you enjoy the campus?

EAOD was great! Seems like the current students we met really loved the program and had good relationships with their professors and the staff. I definitely got the impression that students are very well supported there (options for tutoring, LEAD will help you edit your papers even via email, great lab to practice in and the cohort seemed to be all about supporting each other).

I got 100% positive vibes from the place and think anyone would be lucky to go there. The obvious downside is the cost and the location. Ultimately any school is going to be expensive and you will have loans to pay back so its great that this program at least allows you to get a job faster and start paying it back sooner than other programs might. It also seemed like a lot of students commute to school (between 30 mins to an hour from what I was hearing) and that aspect was doable because its against traffic.

It's still my second choice because of the cost/location but I would be totally stoked to go there.

I think that the cost of the program will be worth the investment because in the end, paying back the loans will not be much of a problem once we get that nursing job. Hopefully, with the kind of reputation Western U has in the medical field, graduates will be highly regarded and maybe even sought after (due to its highly selective admission process, meaning "the best of the best" is selected). And I agree that it appears that people here in the program are very happy. Professors seem to have a very supportive attitude too, so it will be a very pleasant learning experience for the students.

Hi all! To those who have attended previous EAOD's and those who are planning on attending this coming thursday, what are some questions to ask or have ready? I am trying to prepare and I am blanking on what would be important things to ask! any suggestions ideas?!

I think it balanced well between them wanting to know what interested you about getting into nursing, what you have done if you've been in medical field, where you want to be in nursing as far as specialty. Its pretty chill, you basically get to get a feel for the school and the staff... I don't feel like they have a whole lot of time to gauge everyone.. It did seem like there were a few people who were jumping in trying to shine the most. However, they aren't worried about that and they tend to move away from people that tried to take the whole spot light. Just be calm, professional, and be that person in the essay and explain yourself. In the end thats all we can really be! I wish you luck! you will love the school!

Thank you so much for your response loveoverhate! Will let everyone know how it goes Thursday! :)

Has anyone from February 11th's EAOD heard anything back yet?
