Western Kentucky University (WKU) - Starting ONLINE Lpn-RN Program

Updated:   Published

I start this July with my LPN-RN transition course-work. Are any of my fellow classmates out there?

Also does anyone have any experience (good OR bad) with this program? Interested in hearing some feedback. I searched the old posts and only found one from a couple years ago with no bites on it!

Hoping to connect with someone who is currently doing this program, HAS done this program- or is going to be starting this program! Thank you all in advance!

Excited about getting my RN!

I am interested in an Online LPN to RN Bridge program however I live in Mississippi. Are the clinical's only done at WKU campus or can you do clinical's outside of WKU at a given facility?

The 1st semester clinical are at the school. You do have the option to clep out..2nd semester clinicals are at a location that they pick for you and I’m not sure how 3rd goes yet

There isn’t a clinical the first semester. There is a skills course that you’re able to clep. The second semester clinical is completed at one of the local hospitals near bowling green. The third semester is your practicum. They try to get you a practicum site close to you. I ended up driving an hour for my practicum. I lived outside of Nashville.

Hi! I realize this thread is old but thought maybe others will be searching WKU LPN-ASN and there is such great info here. ?
I just applied to this program for the Jan 2020 start date. The deadline for applying is Sept 1st so I have awhile to wait until I find out if I got accepted or not. The waiting is the hardest part! lol
Anyone else applying for Jan 2020?

Hey there!! I applied for Jan 2020 as well!!

Heck yeah! I wonder when they'll let us know? I took the HESI yesterday and overall made 87%...not sure where that falls as far as high enough or not?

For what I’ve read through WKU threads here, I think we’ll know by the end of September maybe. We have to know something by mid October because once accepted we take a LPN to RN Transition course that starts in November.

BishopLPN - Are any clinical days on the weekends (F/Sa/Su)?

Also what books did you guys use for the program? Elsevier, Lippincott, etc.?

The clinical days during second semester is only Monday or Tuesday.

Practicum during third semester is based on your preceptors schedule. Some people were able to get preceptors that worked weekends.

The main book that was used was Hoffman Sullivan Medical-Surgically Nursing. You have to purchase it new to access the online content/quizzes for school.

Thank you again so much BishopLPN!!!

Hello, I just applied for the Spring 2020 LPN-RN semester. GPA is 3.5 and HESI 88%. Hoping to get in the program with those stats.
