I didn't see a thread, so I started one.

I am planning on applying this fall for the Direct Entry MSN program. Anyone else?

I have a question for anyone who was on the alternates list for last year. For the letter last year, does it sound highly optimistic as this year's letter?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up because from the sound of the letter, it seems like they anticipate on accepting a lot of the alternates this year?? Maybe I'm trying to read too much into it.

wow, i'm so sorry, raminajulia. I went into my reclusive state for a bit after the email and didn't want to log into anything to do with nursing for a bit :( It's kinda late, but my last name starts with an L.

Thanks for your encouragement, Bees :) After the weekend, I've picked myself up a bit and I've moved on. For those who got the no's or alternatives, will you guys be applying to WesternU again, and do you know if you'll be submitting the same personal statement? At this point, the only thing that I think will have any effect is etiher shadowing more or emt and classes, but other than that, I mean.. if the personal statement stays the same, and I incorporated personal stories... those really remain the same, right?? :\

*sigh.

Time to keep mowing on....Round 2. Let's go.

Yep! Add me onto that alternate list too. You guys are right, every single one of us are alternates now. How is that possible??? My last name begins with N and i got my e-mail at 2:41.

Not to be negative, but I always try to see every possible side/reasoning and part of me has to wonder if those interviewing this week have already been selected as likely admits with the interview being a formality? If they were planning to fill the class with them, then it would make sense to send the alternate status to the rest of us. If it's a full day with 18 people like all the others, they could conceivably fill the remaining spots. Just a thought... I hope I'm wrong :unsure:

I don't think they read the forum. When I talked to MC a couple weeks ago, she asked if I was on studentnet or something. I said no, allnurses. She hadn't heard of it.

As far as admitting all of the people Thursday, I would think no? If they were doing the interviews out of formality, or they were just going to admit, I would think they would have been a part of the early acceptance group.

I think they have to have us ranked somehow. It seems odd they can't tell us that ranking :/ other schools do--so it just doesn't make sense.

We also have to keep in mind that while there are quite a few people here, not at 600+ applicants are on the forum and not all interviewees, etc are either. So maybe we have just been more active? We've had a couple of accept, a few nonaccept and quite a few alternates.

I suppose they could be holding off to give themselves time--but if I was in admissions--while I would empathize with the applicants position I wouldn't just send out an alternate status to everyone remaining in order to alleviate the potential for questions.

We don't know how many people have been offered acceptance--I don't think that many between here and FB. Certainly not 60...so I would presume there are a lot of people not on the an forum or FB. But that's just a guess.

I received an email today telling me that I've been accepted into the program. I figured some of you may want to know since it seems like there has been an abundance of "alternate" emails today. Sorry I know this may just raise more questions than answers but I thought you all might want to be informed as much as possible.

I will be turning the offer down since I got into another program. I really hope this opens up a spot for one of you! I know it's been such a stressful experience but keep hanging in there. Sending positive vibes your way!
