I didn't see a thread, so I started one.

I am planning on applying this fall for the Direct Entry MSN program. Anyone else?

Move over in the boat people... I'm about to jump in and join you on the S.S. Wait Listed at Western! Disappointing to say the least. Time to refocus and make a plan to strengthen myself as a candidate for next year.

I got my letter. I am an alternate as well. I also find it very strange that we are all alternates or got rejected.....how has no one actually been accepted?? It does say in the letter though that they anticipate offering many of their alternates spots....I am taking this as people are going to deny their acceptance?? I guess I should feel happier than I am.

I am tempted to call the school anonymously and ask if they are still sending out acceptances? Other than the acceptances from 2 weeks ago it appears no one else has been accepted (unless all the acceptances are not on this forum although that seems a bit unlikely to me, there has to be at least one!) Am I wrong, is there anyone on this forum who has heard nothing yet?

I am just looking for peace of mind so I know if I should still keep hoping that it might happen or if I should just let it go.

Is anyone else slightly annoyed that the letter started with "Congratulations!"

Perhaps they plan on admitting a large number from the interviews that are coming up? What else could it be?

I was just talking to my co-worker about that! The letter is much too enthusiastic sounding for what it is.

I think ktonic was on to something earlier in the thread. They told us during our interviews that we would be notified in 2-3 weeks. It's been 4 weeks since the first interviews so I'm kinda thinking they felt obligated to communicate something to us. Maybe the safest bet was to make us all "alternates" to buy them more time for the additional interviews. Just speculation because I can't stand not knowing why all this funny business is going on.

Yes, I think so too. And another reason I think this might be true is because I remember that someone posted that they called last week and was told that we would most likely hear by the end of the month. My theory is that they wanted to prevent the massive numbers of calls they were going to start getting today from everyone that hadn't heard yet (since its been 3 weeks now) so they gave everyone an alternate response so they can have more time to decide after this weeks interviews. But like you said this is all speculation and I might be reading way too much into this just because I want to believe that at least somebody got in!

Ceci: I completely agree with ktonic. I find it a bit difficult to accept that everyone was sent an alternative letter!

Well, add me onto the alternative list. I wish they would tell us how many alternatives that they place on the list and then rank the files. It's the uncertainty of everything that is driving me insane!

I did try to get that information, but DM said that they don't give her anything like that unfortunately. For those who were alternates last year, were you ever told what number on the list you were?

On second thought, upon re-reading the letter. I have to wonder if we are ranked but we are not told our position. In the letter, it specifically states that you need to return the form to secure your position on the list. hmmm... It's highly frustrating not to be informed, though!

From what I recall reading earlier on in this forum last years alternates were not ranked either but were told that when a new slot opened up everyone on the alternate list would be reevaluated. I think that is highly unlikely. I am sure they rank us in some way (if not by specific number I'm sure they have brackets) but for some reason do not want to give us that information (I'm sure it has to with some kind of legal issue).
