Nursing Students Western Governors

Can anyone tell me about Western Governor's University? I understand that it is affordable and accredited. Does anyone take courses from them? What is it like? Any graduates?

I heard that they started a pre-licensure RN program in 2009 I wonder how that's going.

I'm interested in the RN-BSN portion. Just looking for as much information as I can get. I graduate from my ADN program in May 2010 and want to continue my education and get a BSN as quick as I can. :nurse:

wow! useful thread! i am interested in applying to this school and have a telephone appt set up for tomorrow (they tried reaching me today but i didn't have my ringer on). is there anyone who has applied and/or currently in the pre-licensure program?

I just applied to last week, I'm already in a nursing program right now and I decided to transfer. They told me the next cohort is on Oct. I still need to take Biochem since it's been 10 yrs (i think) since the time i took it in highschool haha!

When are you planning on applying? (their program is better than what my current traditional school is offering)

Hi Mwinters69, i am applying to and i wondering how intense are the pgms and how can someone get through this in 6- 12mths, im an rn and work in an er level 1 trauma ctr, i also do nights so will this be possible to finish in this amount of time, if i give it 3 hours a day of studying i really want the transition of rn to bsn so desperately. thank you for the feedback. i look forward to what ever you have to say.. I started the RN-BSN program in November, and it is very doable, I have completed 9 credits so far this term, and am half way done with my last class for the term, to finish my 12 credits, leaving me with only 11 credits left:yeah: Honestly if I would stop procrastinating then I could be farther along in my program, but allnurses draws my attention all the time;)

I work full time on a rotating shift. You do not have to check in online at certian times or require you to make so many post or responses to classmates, so if you work nights you just study when you can.

You do get assinged a mentor who checks in with you once a week to answer any questions you have and to see if you are able to stay on track.

Almost all of the work is writting papers and care plans

I am contemplating applying for prelicensure rn program. Has anyone done this yet? Well, i understand its a new program but anyone enrolled? Im looking at an oct 2011 cohort at cedars, thks!

@ lovemybugs

if you've now graduated from with a bsn degree, i'd love to get your take on the program. i've got my adn and would like to get my bsn as quickly as possible. i know i want to do it completely online, but there are plenty of brick and mortar schools who also offer a completely online component...so it's really a tough decision.

i think the main point that is drawing me towards wgu at this point is that it sounds like the program may be able to be completed quite quickly. but i've not been able to get a real good handle on the accuracy of that yet.

anyway...hope you see this post and can maybe give me a feel for the curriculum and type of assignments you were presented with....along with any other insight you have

:)

Sounds like a good deal

Would except credits from a Diploma RN Program into their RN/BSN program? Thank you.

I'm not really sure. I would recommend calling their 800 number and talking to an enrollment counselor. I've always found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Sorry I'm not more helpful.
