West Georgia Tech ASN program

U.S.A. Georgia

Has anyone applied to west ga tech ASN program? I applied to the newnan campus for summer 2013. Does anyone know what an average gpa/teas score or competitive selection score is for those that were accepted to any of their campuses?

I am so anxious. I wish the score told us more about how we stack up compared to others. I'm going crazy. I just can't understand why we have to wait so long to know. KShor- did they calculate the score the way we thought?

I applied (and got in, but declined my spot) for Newnan Summer 2013. They told me that they don't process acceptance letters until everyone has received their score and had a chance to correct any errors. They told us a date we would get our accept/reject letter by and I got my acceptance letter about a week before that date. Good luck to all of you!

natalieb44- Since this was the first time they made people have their CNA certification, did you hear if many people applied? I was curious about that?

I was never told an exact number of applicants, but I was told it was fairly competitive. I think the numbers were boosted for Newnan because anyone applying to the University of West Ga campus in Newnan also had to get their CNA license. I'm assuming many people applied to both programs. I am not sure how that would impact other campuses.

I got the most info by calling the campus and told them I was a prospective applicant for the nursing program. I had already applied, but by having a convo with the nursing dept about their program in general they gave me tidbits of info on the application process.

One word of advice....they expect the physical and immunization to be done ASAP. I would advise setting up an appointment for a few days after the date they said they would let you know by. That way you don't have to scramble to get in an appt. They sent info for the physical and ordering uniforms with the acceptance letter.

-Natalie, if you don't mind sharing, what was your competitive score? I was hoping to get my results in the mail today but it didn't come. I'm curious bc I'd just like to knowmthe formula they use. I understand that the TEAS is 60% and grades are 40% but what do they do with that.

Congrats on being accepted....are you happy with the school you chose?

My score was 83.49. I had 81 on TEAS and I don't remember what the gpa score was, but I made an A in a&p 1 and 2, B in English, A in math, and I had AP credit for psych. I also had an A for micro, but I don't think they included that in the gpa. I don't have my paperwork anymore to reference.

I am really happy with the program I chose. It's a BSN program at LaGrange College so although its a much longer commute from peachtree city I will have my BSN in two yrs. Their program starts in August so I am able to take a break before jumping in. They also have a 100% NCLEX pass rate for the past 4 years so that was huge in my opinion. I've already met the nursing faculty and had a chance to do a meet and greet with their current nursing students which was immensely helpful in making a decision to accept/decline schools.

Thanks for the info...I'll be waiting patiently for my mail today. :)

-svckxb01, did you get a letter? My mail just came and I have not yet gotten a letter about my competitive score. I'm worried now. Guess I'll have to call WGTC on Monday. I'm freaking out. I know they got all my stuff...I didn't mail it, I personally turned it in.

I haven't received anything yet either. I turned in mine personally too about two weeks before the deadline. Let us know what they say on Monday if you decide to call.
