West Coast University

Hello! Is there anyone who is going thru West Coast University in LA/OC? How was your experience with the school? Thanks!

Specializes in hospice :P.

I just can't believe all the negativity I'm reading on this thread! I have friends who already graduated from this school, taken their boards not long after, all passed & they all found jobs at decent hospitals! Most importantly though, they never had any bad experiences with WCU. That being said, I've made up my mind & will follow their footsteps.

How old are you Kenichi? And which campus are you attending. My only problem is the financial aid department.

The girl royaly screwed me up (AT THE BEGINNING) of the process, and now I have to wait to be fin cleared for a loan.

Just little things like that, arent worth the fact that I just may have to be SUPER DUPER on top of them. Financial aid needs to be more responsible and more worried about the students money and where and who it goes too.

I'm looking to start WCU in Jan, 2011 (Ontario Campus) I'm scheduled to take the HESI entrance next week and is freaking out. I haven't been in school for some years now, so jumping straight into taking a test is a bit nerve wrecking for me.

Specializes in TELEMETRY.

I Know I had a few friends that had very negative experiences with the school. Personally though, I loved it, especially becasue I was able to finish my dream of becoming a RN. Not every school is perfect and I really do think this school is customer service oriented even though many people think they aren't. I felt I had a great education there and would recommend this school to anyone if the can afford it.

can anybody advise me for looking into student loan or financial aid for west coast university?

what kind of problem you have with the financial aid? im so worried about not getting the loan

o wow! i remember when I started our hesi for nursing transition is 75 and when I finished last august 08 was 85%. I guess they are pushing it. so far my batch's NCLEX passing rate was 94% yahoo!!! finished school end of august and took the NCLEX first week of September. I may say Hesi played a good teaching ground in terms of test taking. because when I took my NCLEX I was pretty confident and stopped at 75. I really hope the school will be recognized pretty soon. ( my only wish as an alumni, hahhaha)

Did you have trouble finding a job? I am thinking about taking my BSN here but its so expensive. How did you come to terms with the tuition? Did you like the program? Please advise.

I am also thinking about going here but worried about the money. How did you make the discussion to attend WCU?

I've been going to WCU-OC since Feb 09 for their BSN prog. I'm graduating in 4 months! SO happyyyy :D. I welcome any questions :D

But I too would like to know, for those that have already graduated, how they landed their first job? Any advice for newbies? Thanks in advance!

I just graduated last May with a BA in KLS. I needed a few Pre-reqs before I am able to apply to a Cal State/UC Masters Entry Nursing Program. Instead of completing these classes at my graduated school I decided to complete them at a CC/JC. It has almost been a YEAR and I still have yet completed a pre-req class due do over crowding within the CC system. I have taken the HESI and enrolled at WCU and was pretty excited to get the ball rolling...I planned on going through the BSN program and then do the masters but after reading some of these comments I am a little scared and confused. Not sure if I should take the plunge. ANY ADVISE?!?! PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi All,

I'll be starting the BSN program soon. I will be starting in April, if I can finish all my paper work in time, or June. I had all my pre-reqs completed as well as an LVN license. The school was asking for 116k for 7 semesters to complete the BSN:devil:.

WCU honored my credits for English (Written Communication II, ENGL 340; 3units), Public Speaking (Oral Communication, SPCH 142; 3 units), Sociology (SOCY 280; 3units), Anatomy (ANAT 260; 4units), Physiology (PHYS 261; 3units), General Microbiology (MICR 140;4units), Statistics (Math 310; 3units), and Psychology:Growth & Development (PSYCH 290; 3units).

They, however, didn't honors my General Organic Chemistry ,Nutrition, and Pharmacology courses I took at JC/CC. They didn't meet the schools requirements and the pharmacology class was too old. I will be challenging two course which are ENGLISH 100 and Introduction to Psychology.

The total for cost of the program after taking my classes came out to be 99k.

So far everyone in financial aid have been very helpful with all my questions and concerns. They even gave me extra information regarding scholarships I could sign up for to reduce the cost of the program.

The reason why I'm choosing this path because the JC are just soo long and I'm sick of waiting. I feel the amount of time I've been waiting for a JC, I could have easily been finished with WCU's already.

Hope this small tidbit of information helps other out. Feel free to PM if you have any more questions. :)
