West Coast University

Hello! Is there anyone who is going thru West Coast University in LA/OC? How was your experience with the school? Thanks!

Hello... Im new to this website so take it easy with me haha.

Anyways I just graduated high school this summer and I am currently at a community college. I am looking forward to become a rn, but as you all know theres a wait list at every community college. I have read many people's opinion towards WCU and Everest College in Ontario. The WCU in Anaheim is closer to me. Can you guy please help me or give me advices of what to do for my future goals as am RN. Thank You all.

Hi Fab93

i am looking into WCU also. I went in yesterday and loved it. done in alittle over 3 years its my dream school! the price on the other hand is crazy...anyways since your fresh out of high school look into WCU. I tried going to CC and i hated it. I live in LA so every class is jammed with students (no joke pple would sit on the floor some days) its up to you if you go to CC for a few years to get your pre reqs it will lower you tuition. but if your like me and want to finish quicker look into WCU

Started last February have 6 more months.

In my opinion this place is not worth the money you pay.

The quality of education is sub-standard. As for the prerequisite classes all you need to do is show up and you will pass them regardless if you fail all the exams. I guess that's fine for some, but do you really want that nurse to be the one taking care of you or loved ones.

If you go there you are basically paying $60,000 to be able to take the boards.

This is a self taught program. With instructors who read word for word off powerpoints (i.e. Physiology professor) and if they are asked to explain what they just lectured on they just reread the powerpoint again. Not all instructors there are bad there is a few good instructors that really try to teach you the subject (i.e. microbiology professor). But for $60,000 you would think that you would be getting a quality education but that's not the case there.

As for the administrative staff that's even more of a joke. Sure they're helpful when it comes to taking you money. But as soon as you have a problem with an instructor it's them against you. They have no student handbook with the school rules & policies. And nothing is written in stone there. You may have the same grade average as a classmate but they may get an A and you a B in the same class. But don't bother going to the dean about that, you're just out of luck.

If you really want to do this program take all your prerequisite at a community college. This will save you around $30,000 plus you will be 10 times better off then must of your classmates who took them at West Coast University.

Although I'm sure this was your experience, I have to say I have had the exact opposite experience. I have taken all these classes before at Cal State Fullerton (more than 5 years ago, so unfortunately the units didn't transfer) and I have to say the classes are very comparable. I worked hard for my A's at both universities. None of my professors at WCU made it easy and the majority of the class received B's and C's. So there is no easy pass as far as my experience. Also, I know several people who didn't put the effort in and ended up failing the classes.

Just wondering, but which campus are you attending?

I've been doing my prereqs since Fall 2009 (just finished all my sciences this summer)

Where are you guys unable to get your prereqs at the CC? I've gone to whatever LACCD campus had availability...
