I am from Hawaii and really interested in transferring to WCU asap. I've taken the majority of all the pre-reqs but not sure if the pre-reqs I've taken here are equivalent to the classes at WCU. So, if anyone knows if there's a credit transfer database or website that can tell me what classes are equivalent to WCU. any additional information is helpful too. I've spoken to a counselor and she was nice but demanded that I find all information on the website. unfortunately, I am all the way here in Hawaii and cannot go to Anaheim until this summer and wanted to know more information before I go. I hope someone can help me or provide me with some kind of information.
thanks!!!

If interested in what others have to say about West Coast University please take a look at our West Coast University | Peer Reviews.
Hello, I am a current student of WCU and I really enjoy it. I am still in the prereq portions, but we are all studying our butts off. It is tough! But I am be step closer to my ultimate goal. Also, we just got WASC accreditation, which is awesome. It is extremely expensive, and I am pretty stressed out about repaying later, but I guess I will jus cross that bridge when I get there. :)
I am seriously considering West Coast at the Ontario Campus for the BSN. Is there anyone there who has graduated and/or is attending and has some real feed back on the campus, classes, and accredidation? Would i ever get hired anywhere with having a degree from the establishment? This is a lot of money, so im just looking for som advice.
Thank You!!!
I am planning to attend WCU in anaheim this fall! I was debating between this or University of San francisco which is also private and expensive. I do not wish to be on the waitlist or lottery for the nursing programs because its pointless and stupid to wait. I value my time more thats why Im willing to pay! I need info about:
1. What is the cultural pluralism pre req? I hope it is cultural anthropology so I wont have to take it again.
2. Tuition cost. I took all my prerequisites and already have my AA in science so I know it would lower.
3. Quality of education. I have heard ALOT of bad things about WCU regarding services and quality of education. Their nclex passing rate is pretty low---on the 75% and Im pretty worried about that.
4. Accreditation. Are the credits from this school transferable to CSUs and UCs if I wana go for my masters in the long run?
**USF has a very good reputation for nursing but I want to go to Socal so Im looking for good reasons to choose WCU anaheim.
Anyone out there attending the North Hollywood campus? I can't find any solid info of things I should be "aware about". Everything I find is towards the Ontario campus (in which per my research has extremely bad rep). The worse comment I read was that they make the pre-reqs smooth and when it comes to the nursing core classes, they'll make it really tough on you (ex. testing you on material that wasn't covered at all) to ultimately make you fail, and have you re-take (re-pay) the classes. God knows I'll try my best, but if it's rigged then I'm dead. Also, Is it true that if you fail ONE class from one term, you have to re-take the WHOLE term again (even the classes you passed)?. That's horrible.
Also a comment regarding the job hunt that a lot of hospitals won't take in WCU graduates. I even spoke with a nursing recruiter (well was, now she's part of the nursing staff at Pasadena City College). She told me she would take a CSU/UC graduate over a WCU graduate. At that time I didn't care, but now that I see it, that's a bit discriminating. I was going to start last April. However, when I asked about the WASC accreditation, the adviser didn't know what to say so I left and upon my research, they were not. Now they are though since Dec '11 and I'm considering going back. I wish I was back in the '70-'80s where majoring in Nursing was easier then now. My plan is to get a BSN here, and then finish up my Masters at CSULA. I hope CSULA doesn't make it difficult
It depends I am attending Orange County, but they only allow u to retake the class that u fail. ex. if u fail the clinical part & pass the lecture then u need to repeat only the clinical part. Regarding the exams, it's hard for the instructors to cover the whole ch., all disease processes, so some of the information u need to read it on your own. Exams r every wk. In my cohort only two students repeated so far. In terms of job, I am still going to school and where I am doing my clinicals, they r a couple graduates from WCU & one is from NH campus. It depends on how you r going to market yourself. Of course some hospitals will prefer graduates from state universities over wcu b/c is a private university. Nursing program is not easy.I am telling you, don't think that BSN program @ wcu is easy since its a private university b/c they don't want to loose their WASC accreditation, be prepared & make your own decision.
Here @ Orange County we are no longer taking Hesi exit exam & I think si the same as other campus. Now we are using ATI but they just combine it to your other exams, if you reach the average =76% and above then you continue but if you r below average that means you fail the course ....retake it. Before they were giving this Hesi exit exam and if you fail it even if you have A in class you had to repeat the whole course. Right now the ATI people come to school and give students their books that you to read, practice exams for every chapter, if you do this, you won't have any problem taking their exams, . Just confirm if NH campus is still giving this hesi but I don't think so. I am just giving you information based on my experience here @Orange County where I am going. Feel free to ask me qs. As I said before that is up to you to make your own decisions & I think you know that the school is expensive. Now WCU is WAS acc. you can transfer to any university or transfer class from any other accrd. school and they give you credits= low dollars. Anyway don't think that I am trying to.........as I said earlier its up to you.

MrsFitnss,
Are APU and West Coast your only options? West Coast is indeed very expensive and I am wondering why you feel that you either need to pay or get waitlisted forever. Have you looked into bridge programs offered by state universities that will take your previous bachelors degree? Do they have long waiting lists too?
