West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!

Published

I am from Hawaii and really interested in transferring to WCU asap. I've taken the majority of all the pre-reqs but not sure if the pre-reqs I've taken here are equivalent to the classes at WCU. So, if anyone knows if there's a credit transfer database or website that can tell me what classes are equivalent to WCU. any additional information is helpful too. I've spoken to a counselor and she was nice but demanded that I find all information on the website. unfortunately, I am all the way here in Hawaii and cannot go to Anaheim until this summer and wanted to know more information before I go. I hope someone can help me or provide me with some kind of information.

thanks!!! :lol2:

i took the teas test btw and i did bad. I got like a 76%. are the tests gona be similar to that?

They accept TEAS scores. I think you have a passing score, you're good to go.

yeah teas is for admissions tho. Im talking about the test that they have to do every 9th week of the 3month term.

That's either the ATI (current) or HESI.

May be I did not make it clear on you. The ATI replaces the Hesi not for admission. You take ATI exit exam every end of the core nursing course ex, Medsurge 1 and is not that bad at all. Almost all nursing schools have the exit exams. As I say, If you do pass on your other exams it doesn't affect you, as long as you have overall 76% (average pass mark) then you r ok. The main thing is to utilize the ATI website and their practice tests. They will give you a code to have access to the ATI website. Is good now that you don't need to retake the whole course if you fail it. The most important thing is to be above the average and the one that I took for med-surge 1 our instructor gave us study guide for it. I hope this information will help you to understand a little bit better.

So in short, what you're saying is that if you do good in 'X' Nursing course (above 76%), you won't have to take the ATI exam in the end?

You will take it and every student has to take it, if you your grades are up already during the during the entire course then the exit exam doesn't affect your grades that much. Lets say you had 80% or above then you get 72% on the exit exam you will still pass the course. The exit exam for the nursing program is comprehensive to all the material that u have covered in that term. Is good b/c it makes you review the infor. and prepares you for your Nclex. My advice to you is no matter which school you will attend, don't worry about exit exam you will learn the everything, the instructors will prepare you for it and later you will find out that the exit exam easy and it refreshes your mind.

No she meant for EVERY last week of the nursing course you take the ati exit exam. You have to have 76% overall from the ati test and other exams.

@nomasa: so if you fail, what happens?

Um, she said that if you get a 80% or above by the end of the course BUT get a 72% (not passing), it won't effect you; you still pass.

yeah as long as it gets to 76% when both the course and ati test are combined. You still have to take ati test regardless if you have a passing score on the course.

Could've been much easier to say 'you'll pass if you average out 76% between the course and the ATI test' lol.

lol!!! im really worried about the schools reputation tho.. coz i know it plays a big part when you apply. and so far they ddnt earn that much yet coz i guess theyre new.
