West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!

Published

I am from Hawaii and really interested in transferring to WCU asap. I've taken the majority of all the pre-reqs but not sure if the pre-reqs I've taken here are equivalent to the classes at WCU. So, if anyone knows if there's a credit transfer database or website that can tell me what classes are equivalent to WCU. any additional information is helpful too. I've spoken to a counselor and she was nice but demanded that I find all information on the website. unfortunately, I am all the way here in Hawaii and cannot go to Anaheim until this summer and wanted to know more information before I go. I hope someone can help me or provide me with some kind of information.

thanks!!! :lol2:

If interested in what others have to say about West Coast University please take a look at our West Coast University | Peer Reviews.

I just checked out West Coast University in Anaheim and they are "CCNE" accredited, so if you get a BSN with them, you can continue onto a Masters Program because most schools accept the accreditation of "NLN" or "CCNE". I checked the Azusa Pacific University Masters in Nursing program and found that if I had a Bachelors from West Coast, I could enter the MSN program...of course, I would need a Jeanie with a magic lamp to pay for the WEST COAST UNIVERSITY program. I have a BS in Mgt, so my program would be under the $136,000 (gasp) they quoted today to me......but wow - such a lot of $$$$$$$$$$. I guess it is pay or do the wait list/lottery thing forever..... perplexed and need to make a decision. Oh yeh, I just went in on a whim and passed their "HESI" test without studying. Math was the hardest for me, but I made s passing score due to my strong areas.

Try Western Governors University too. Their price is reasonable.

@imanerd. You don't go to wcu so don't run you mouth about stuff you don't have first hand knowledge of..wcu has a strict policy on plagerism.there are students who cheat just like any other school..if you are caught you are kicked ot..the school follows apa rules for sighting work....the problem with wcu is not the quality of education or instructors...it is the admin they are jerks and disorganized and for the cost student services suck..I am a student 3 yrs into the bsn program..

WASC committee visited west coast last week. We crossing our fingers that it will be approved soon. I don't know what other bad news except being expensive other people are going to say.KiKiKiKi!

What difference will wasc make to you?the only difference is that general ed will transfer.nursing corses will not wasc or not and most masters programs will take you anyway because of ccne acredidation...I'm also a student and personaly hope that wasc denies it.just because the school wants it so bad.

You can get your masters from other universities, it depends because it is regionally accredited not nationally. If you want to go some where then ...........Cal state Fullerton accepts students from West Coast. West Coast is CCNE accredited myself I don't have any problem with CCNE. Other students are going to take their GE there and transfer to other WASC accredited schools because its hard to enroll into science classes especially at CC these days. I am just crossing my fingers for good things coz I don't have any problem with the school or the preventatives there. Every student who enrolls there knows that the school is expensive,= decision making.

Hello everyone, I am planning to apply in wcu, I have some pre-requisites that I took in a college in Miami( I just recently moved to LA). I don't really care about the price because what I really want is to get into a program and finish, because I heard that many schools here have a huge waiting list, and I don't want to wait another year or two, but my main concern now is about the transfer credits, can I transfer my bachelors from WCU to another university to do my masters? What about transferring my bachelors from WCU to another university outside California, let's say I move back to Miami, can I still transfer and get a masters? Please any information will be greatly appreciated!!!

Do any of you guys know of any other school that doesn't have a long waiting list?

Some private schools yes but you need to confirm with the school that you want to do your masters but for state universities I don't think so since it is CCNE accredited. About your classes I know that they give credit if they match with theirs. I transferred nine class from my previous cc. Try Western Governors, Golden West CC, Cerritos CCollege and other colleges look at your gpa and your points. Meaning if you have a good gpa and have more points on things they look at try other colleges and you have a chance to get in. My overall gpa from my recent cc is 3.3(Science clasees-3.8) and I waited one semester then i decided to go to wcu, but a month later I received acceptance letters from two CCs, it was already too late for me, so I just continued with wcu. Wish you good luck.

Thank you very much for the info. I will definitely take a look at the schools you told me, but my GPA is kind of low, I have a 3.3 in the science, and a 3.0 over all, and most of them requires the TEAS test which I definitely need to study more for it. Well once again thank you, and any more info will be greatly appreciated !!! So you are attending or will be attending WCU in the next term?

I am attending right now but orange county campus. I started in June.

Not sure if anyone answered this question but is the West Coast University in Ontario campus CCNE accredited as well as the other 2 locations, Anaheim and Los Angeles?

Hey, how are you? I have everything done to start classes in November, but what is holding me back is that I will have to pay out of my pocket monthly, and as you know tuition at WCU is not cheap LOL!!! In order for me to go to school I need to keep my job, and work at least 3 times a week, but they won't tell me what my schedule will be until I sigso everything,so can you please share with me more or less your schedule, so I know what to expect, I transferred some credits, so in November I will be taking biochemistry by itself, and cultural pluralism and pathophysiology on the next semester which will start in January!!! Thank you very much in advance, that information will make my decision a lot easier!!!
