West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!

Published

I am from Hawaii and really interested in transferring to WCU asap. I've taken the majority of all the pre-reqs but not sure if the pre-reqs I've taken here are equivalent to the classes at WCU. So, if anyone knows if there's a credit transfer database or website that can tell me what classes are equivalent to WCU. any additional information is helpful too. I've spoken to a counselor and she was nice but demanded that I find all information on the website. unfortunately, I am all the way here in Hawaii and cannot go to Anaheim until this summer and wanted to know more information before I go. I hope someone can help me or provide me with some kind of information.

thanks!!! :lol2:

My main concern is if Cal State L.A will accept the B.S.N degree and the credits so I can take the Master's program there. I want to be a Nurse Practitioner. I won't have a problem finding work at all.

oh yeah and that too but since theyre wasc accredited now maybe you can ask csu la if they will take it

Is just like classes that you take @ a cc. CC average is 70%, if your average is below 70% is a D right then u have to repeat the whole course. Same applies to this if your average grade of the whole course is below 76% including ati test that means you fail the class you need to retake it. You only repeat the one that you fail. Some nursing classes have Clinicals or Skills lab then lecture. It depends which one. Nursing schools have different cutting scores. Some their average is 80% and above that is considered passing score. WCU is 76% and above for nursing program but pre-reqs is 70% and above. Nursing grading system is different from gen ed. classes. Regardless you have a passing mark on your grades you still need to take it. Let me say it in this way, is your final just like every class that u take. No student is suppose to miss the finals @CC right. My advice for those who want to go to WCU, take all your pre-reqs @ cc then transfer, it reduces the amount. This is what I did.

thats what im planning to do. And btw do you know what the cultural pluralism pre req is? How much did u have to pay if you already had the pre reqs?

you can open their website and go to transfer of credit there is a list of schools and classes for each school and their equivalences. If you take all the required pre-reqs it can go down to 70-90 K for BSN in two years including everything such as bks , instead of paying 132K. Good luck try other schools too.

I did check it out and it does not say anything about cultural pluralism. How much did you pay for yours?

This is how u check it. Go to school website, then Register, then Transfer credits, then You can access the TES system here, then list of schools will show up, then click on the of your school, then view all, you need to click on different years, If you school offers cultural pluralism is going to show or try other schools that are close to you and see if the have it. You need to make sure is the right course that you r taking. Myself I knock it down to 85k b/c I took biochem, human psychology and English two there. Some people that I am going to school with are paying like 70K. It depends w/ the transferable classes that you have that's why you need to be familiar with their transfer of credits in case they say something you can argue w/them and express that you know that your classes are on their list.

yup i did that and i have all the pre reqs that they require that are transferable. It ddnt say anything about cultural pluralism...i guess one of the subjects there was belongs to the cultural pluralism area? Wow from 130 to 70.. thats alot of money you can save! Thanks so much for the info!

I knocked off all pre-reqs except cultural pluralism, pathophysiology (such an unusual pre-req) and biochemistry (which is BS, excuse my language). I just bought the book and it's an integrated course of inorganic, organic, and biochem. I took a course EXACTLY like that in my CC, but since it's missing one unit...I didn't get my credit. Oh well.

i have all the courses too except for cultural pluralism and patho. How much did you have to pay after knocking those out?

Are you sure? Most Chemistry classes are 4 credits including the lab. WCU's is 5 credits.

Around 94,000.

yeah i have a 5 unit chem class that i'm taking right now. Still 94k? wow. I was expecting it to be lower like nomsa up there. What made it so high still?
