West Coast University Nursing Program Questions, Please Help!

U.S.A. California

I am from Hawaii and really interested in transferring to WCU asap. I've taken the majority of all the pre-reqs but not sure if the pre-reqs I've taken here are equivalent to the classes at WCU. So, if anyone knows if there's a credit transfer database or website that can tell me what classes are equivalent to WCU. any additional information is helpful too. I've spoken to a counselor and she was nice but demanded that I find all information on the website. unfortunately, I am all the way here in Hawaii and cannot go to Anaheim until this summer and wanted to know more information before I go. I hope someone can help me or provide me with some kind of information.

thanks!!! :lol2:

let me know how the program goes!

Also when you get there don't let them fool you by telling you that if you pull back and take the remaining class somewhere you won't have a spot when you come back w/ all the pre-reqs, especially the representatives. They told me that but I did not listen to her, so I waited another term to take some classes @ cc and then I went back. Those represantatives know how to push you into the program. Did u ever look @ , is way much cheaper than WCU, is in Santa Ana and it has a BSN program is WASC accreditated. Now they have a program for basic students meaning students w/out LVN license. Try but some of their classes are online.

Okay here's important info for anyone concerned over WCU's newly WASC accreditation. I called CSULA to see if I could transfer over with a BSN from WCU. They said NO. Why? They haven't reported it to the AACRAO. CSULA basically checked their directory (AACRAO book), and WCU is not there. Their website is AACRAO: American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers Homepage

One week before school starts and wow...I have a TOUGH decision to make this week. Move on or stay. I've contacted an adviser via email, but I have a feeling he or she will just tell me either a lie (to make me stay = $$$) or bad news. Sure, there might not be waiting lists or lotteries but in exchange of something else that MIGHT affect you in the long run. Not to mention the enormous amount of money one would spend, and still can't transfer to CSU? Geez.

I want to continue my studies at CSULA and become a Nurse Practitioner. That is my goal. I'm growing sick and tired of trying to get in. I could've gone to Mt. Sac but chose WCU because of the advantage of receiving my B.S.N. and because they got "WASC accredited". If I receive bad news from WCU it's back to square 1 or heck, I'll just change majors. Good luck to everyone.

Just got an email from the diector of admissions. He said he's surprised and thought it was already done.

Not too professional if they overlooked that.

Thanks so much for the tip! I did inquire at but its an online program! They just give you assignments for clinicals on where to go and all that. I dont really know if that will work for me. Did u try inquiring with them?

Yeah no way. Online programs are sketchy in my opinion.

So I've gotten in contact with the director of admissions and the executive director. So far so good. The E.D has a good point, might have been overlooked. The accreditation is only 4-5 months old.

Oh good that means youre still going there right? I might start on aug. let me know please how it goes when youre there!

Yesterday I felt like crap, but today I feel better about it. Worst comes to worst...CSULA can go to h***. I'll take my N.P program elsewhere. Maybe even USC. I'll worry about it later.

Getting masters is the least of my concern now too. And if you cant transfer it to csula you could always do it at private school again! ;) Goodluck and update me!

It seems WCU has the accreditation ie. CCNE, WASC, CA Board Nurse.....I'm thinking about just i wouldnt say applying since there is no real official admission criteria like traditional nursing programs in August.

I live in florida and waiting to here about a school and NYU and Pace University. All these programs are a year long and just as expensive as WCU so the tutition does not worry me. If I dont get into those schools I will just hop on a plan to LA and sign the papers to go to WCU I figure sitting out for another year=$$$$ that I'm losing out on. Hopefully my transcripts get transferred in from my bachelor's degree cuz I would hate to re-take classes I've passed already

Does anyone know how good they are from accepting classes from other 4 year schools? I graduated from University of Florida so I feel they should accept them unless they want my money

Is there like a full course list or requirements for the BSN program I already have a BS degree n per-requistes finished so i wanted to see how many of my Gen Ed classes would transfer over???

They didnt list on their website what pre reqs they need but if you click the Admissions link and then look for the Application for admission you will see what classes they require.

Here is the link if you want to take a look at what classes would transfer from your school. Although not all are prolly listed there. Transfer Credits | WCU just scroll down and click the You can access the TES system here. link.

I didn't know that was WASC accredited? When I talked to the LA campus they said they were accredited by another board. Is it only the Santa Ana program that is accredited?
