Nursing Students LPN-RN

Published

Hello,

I am interested in pursuing my RN after I have passed my LVN boards exam. I don't know anyone who has attended the school. If you know any information about the school or any school re: LVN_RN (BSN) I would gladly appreciate it!!!

Thanks =)

You have to be a ****** not to find a job. The only people having trouble finding health care jobs are people with no medical/ professional experience such as Mc donalds as the last job on their resume. Not worried about getting hire no matter how much trash is talked about WCU. And as for reputation of school if you are competant it does not matter where you get your degree as long as it is approved by the board and CCNE or ACN..Most ADN to BSN and BSN to MSN working nurses I know did their ed online through University of Phoenix....It's a bigger joke school than Devry. I don't even plan on going to graduation and would never hang a WCU diploma on my office wall. Haven't you noticed when someone asks where you went or where you were going and you told them WCU they would make a funny face?

If I was a ****** I would not have been the Valedictorian at WCU and graduated with a 4.0 GPA and I actually have 6 years of experience as an LVN and had my resume professionally made by a writer. I have ACLS, PALS, ECG, and NRP certifications. And no no one made a funny face to me when I said I graduated from WCU, if you think WCU is so bad maybe you should consider going to UCLA or other school that is up to your high standards.... or maybe you did not have the prereqs or even the GPA to get accepted to one of those?

I'm sure you are one of those 4.0 students that does very well. I did not mean that you were literally *******, that would be absurd. Nurses can't be retarded! But did you really pay someone to build you a resume? Wow. I am glad that you are working now:) best of luck to you..

I bet your biggest mistake was telling everyone who interviewed you about your 4.0 . probably made them mad because they got 3.3 or something...

Cavmedic16, the job prospect out in Calif is very bad, unless you have a few years experience as an RN. Getting a new grad job in an acute care facility is very challenging. Now, if you would settle for less--say SNF--then you may get a job.

The $65k is for what program? LVN-RN or ADN or BSN??

I am planning to attend WCU in anaheim this fall! I was debating between this or University of San francisco which is also private and expensive. I do not wish to be on the waitlist or lottery for the nursing programs because its pointless and stupid to wait. I value my time more thats why Im willing to pay! I need info about:

1. What is the cultural pluralism pre req? I hope it is cultural anthropology so I wont have to take it again.

2. Tuition cost. I took all my prerequisites and already have my AA in science so I know it would lower.

3. Quality of education. I have heard ALOT of bad things about WCU regarding services and quality of education. Their nclex passing rate is pretty low---on the 75% and Im pretty worried about that.

4. Accreditation. Are the credits from this school transferable to CSUs and UCs if I wana go for my masters in the long run?

**USF has a very good reputation for nursing but I want to go to Socal so Im looking for good reasons to choose WCU anaheim.

Ok my reply is based on having gone to WCU's sister LVN school ACC when both schools used to share the same building. One thing to factor in is that while still a private school it's very much a for profit school. Both schools are owned by the same guy. He's fairly nice. Not used to students asking intelligent questions though.

He came into what he though was our skills lab but was actually "clinicals" because even though we had somewhere to go we didn't have an instructor willing to drive out there so we had to wait for the clinical placement in the valley to be approved by the state. He seemed genuinely surprised by the circumstances. The problem was quickly resolved. I have been told by faculty from both institutions that he doesn't like to hear about problems so they don't tell him any.

Ok thats the background of my opinion. Facilities nice. Faculty nice. Maybe not the best academic staff you can find but acceptable. Clinical placements? For the most part ok. The school seemed perfectly willing to pay errr donate money to the hospitals to get us in there. The uniforms are rather nice as student nurses go.

Would I go to WCU? No. Not really. You really do start to feel that they only love you for your money. Students are dragged out of the class and not permitted to return the moment their tuition payment is late. Not sure what the repeat policy is like at WCU but at ACC you can repeat a semester without having to pay more.

I'm not going to knock you for being impatient and wanting to get things done since I did the exact same thing in attending a LVN trade school.

If all things are equal and your accepted to both colleges then the decision would be better reputation vs better weather. I.e how much do you really want to be in LA/OC. The job market isn't all that awesome here

Thanks for the input! I love socal thats why I want to go there! SF has a veryyyyy high cost of living so its gona make me more in debt that I would really be. I have read numerous times that they really go for your money and I dont really like that but I like how they dont require much for admissions.
