Were you accepted on your first try?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

Hello LPN's-

I will be applying this fall to hopefully get into LPN school for Fall '08. I'll be applying to 3-4 different programs, and I'll be getting certified this summer as a nursing assistant. Did you get into LPN school on your first try applying? The schools I'm applying to are private, and although they are expensive, they don't have any pre-reqs- they just require that you write an essay on why you want to be an LPN, take a pre-entrance test, and have a HS diploma. I didn't do too well in HS, only had a 2.3 GPA because I slacked off and am regretting it now....I now have a 3.7 GPA in college, but I'm hoping the fact that I didn't do well in high school won't hurt me. I know that it's a little easier to get into an LPN program, rather than an RN school- but just wondering if you guys got in on your first try? :uhoh21:

Godsgift2,

Where did you apply (location, private or community college)?

I'm in the middle of applying to two schools and I'm getting nervous.

Thanks.

Marina,

I applied at Beck Career Center in Red Bud, Illinois and Metropolitan Community College in East St. Louis Illinois

Specializes in LTC/SNF.

Got in on my first try. There were 82 applicants for the LPN program which must be passed prior to consideration to the ADN program in Vermont. The LPN program accepts 22 students per year where I attended. I think one of the main reasons I was accepted was that I had completed A & P I & II, Human Growth & Developement and Nutrition prior to application. Was still considered a full time student and had to pay complete tuition though I didn't have to do the coursework as I had already passed. It's a lighter load for the instructors and the school still gets paid full tution. Glad I did it that way too, otherwise I don't feel I'd have graduated with honors.

Been nursing for 3+ years now and discovered this forum just recently. Wish I'd known of it long before. A truly wonderful, supportive and informative oasis.

Good Luck to You!

I was accepted on my first try. I am still trying to realize it has happened.
