Wellpoint/Anthem BCBS phone interview

Published

I just had a 35 minute phone interview for a Nurse Case Manager with Wellpoint. Boy, was it tedious!! Lots of those questions that I hate, ie. What are your strengths/weaknesses, tell me about a time when you had a conflict at work and what did you do about it? Yikes! It seemed like some of the questions were the same only with the words changed around, and it kept going and going. Anyway, I think it went pretty well. Anyone who works for Wellpoint with a telecommuting position...what is the next step? An in-person interview? Straight to an offer/rejection? How long does it take? I wonder because they said the start date is 6/2, and that's only a little over three weeks away, and I have to give a 30-day notice. That's going to take some rearranging of the work schedule, to say the least. Any insight is appreciated.

Very happy for you , working from home is our reward for all those 12 hour shifts at the bedside.

Please let us know how it's going.

Hi everyone. I recently applied to Well point and my current status is under consideration. I was wondering if someone could tell me the usual hiring/recruiting process steps so that I can have at least half of a clue about where I stand. Thanks in advance.

I found working at home to be wonderful in some ways and very bad in others. I worked the OR for yrs and then when I started working at home sitting for most days 9+ hours very hard... just have to keep with the exercise and don't let the weight pile on..

I just applied for a Nurse Case Manager position with WellPoint. I have the experience and qualifications. It would be an ideal situation if I could work full-time from home! *Fingers crossed*

It's a awesome company too work for...:)

It's going good so far! It's a huge learning curve for me, but I'm catching on lol! I'm loving the hours, the week goes by so fast.....but of coorifice so do the weekends :/

Are you in orientation now?

No, I start orientation July 7th. Just a couple more weeks! It seems like it's taking forever to get here.

I have recently had a phone interview with Wellpoint. A few days later I received an email for a background check with Hire Right. Now my status says interview pending. Does anyone know what the process is for being hired with WellPoint. I am unsure how long I should wait to hear back from them. I did email recruiter and she said this is the process and she will be unavailable until Wed. Getting anxious. Any past experiences?

Hi Ms. Persistence,

I only can tell you from my experience. I had a phone interview once with immediate response I was no picked for the top candidates. Interviewed again for another position and now my status went from consideration to interview pending. Background check requested now waiting for reply. Maybe this will help a little. :)

I didn't get my background check info request until after my interview, and the same week as my offer. I think if Hire Right has already contacted you, that's a really good sign. They aren't going to spend the money to do a background check on you if they aren't interested in hiring you. :)

Hi brooklin4,

Thanks for sharing. I had similar experiences. I had 2 interviews and a phone interview within 2 weeks time for two different locations. At the moment, my status is hiring manager review and I am waiting on my background check that is taking forever:unsure: and my start date is a week away. I'm hoping to hear something this week.

Congrats on your positions with Wellpoint!. Behavioral interview's are a pain ! I know for me, I always feel as if I am ramblin'. My daughter tells me, if I feel I am ramblin', then I am. LOL. Anyhoo....I worked a telecommute position with Humana (at home). The culture is very very different. I feel all of the Managed care companies are about the same when it comes to the case management position. I worked with Humana. I had the same type of interview...."tell me about a time when....." The managers do not share with you the real deal with those jobs, but again, I guess it depends. I was UM/concurrent review/telephonic and onsite. During my interview, they DID NOT stress the evaluations. Everything was metrics...metrics....metrics. Had to remain compliant with all of the medicare guidelines, for we were a Medicare Advantage Plan. Corporate office was big brother watching, and if the monthly reports did not come up to par, as far as turn around times, with documentation, you were reprimanded. The computer system dated all documentation. The case loads were very high, and having to document every 3 days. Very stressful working at home, conference calls. I lasted 13 months. Not worth it. money was ok, but after it was all said and done, I bet I made 5.00/hr, cause working from home, the computer was always on.....playing catch up.

Just my 2 cents worth on this telecommute/work from home. I pray your caseload is decent.

I've applied to several work from home CM positions with WellPoint in July/Aug and my status still shows resume adknowledged. It seems like it's so difficult to get these types of jobs! Are they looking for CM experience? I have 9yrs of experience in med-surg, renal, GI lab and cardiac. Sometimes I just feel like giving up since I've had no such luck :(
