I have heard of this working. From time to time I have to call insurance companies for patients letting them know that the patient is taking the Wellbutrin for depression and is not using it to quit smoking or else they will not pay for it. Do you know if this helps with other types of tabacco use? ex: chewing tabacco?

If the physician/NP sigs the drug Wellbutrin, sometimes the insurance companies will not pay. Ths sig, Zyban is better for it is indicated for smoking cessation.
Zyban appears to reduce the craving for nicotine, so, using it in any nicotine-related cessation program is indicated.

Ditto. When dealing with insurance companies, a lot has to do with semantics. Wellbutrin or Zyban...same drug, but one is covered and one is not. Consider it just another hoop to jump thru.

I quit smoking with Wellbutrin............ The only thing is that it keeps you up all night........ at first... I had no weight gain from smoking cessation. Good luck to you it is very hard to quit...
