Well, I'm In...Now What Am I Going To Do???

Published

I just got my letter yesterday. I've been accepted into the program. Now what am I going to do?? :lol2:

Excited and nervous at the same time! Please wish me luck and feel free to hand out any words of wisdom, advice, hints, or tips!

I started a blog before I began NS. I used it to chronicle all of my anticipation and lead-up as well as my experiences in school. It has been a great outlet for me and it's great to go back and re-experience how I felt for all of those "firsts" (skills, challenges, evaluations, etc)

Maybe blogging isn't for everyone but I'd absolutely recommend keeping a journal of some kind. It's been tremendously rewarding.

I do have an electronic journaling program on the computer....I should prob devote an area of it, to NS.....

Thx!

Congrats!! I start the bridge program June 13th... and classes in the fall! I am nervous but super excited as well!!!

Congrats to you, as well!

I would recommend buying a NCLEX review book and at the end of each semester - review the chapter(s) that pertain to it. Ex. if you just finished a med-surg semester - look at the medsurg review section, after peds, after psych, after maternity....that way when you finish the program and are getting ready to the EXAM you have been covering it all along. It makes the information stick better.

You don't even have to buy it - check if it's available from your school or local library.

Would you pls recommend an NCLEX review book?

Congrats!

You know what I'd study right now if I were you..??? The insides of my eyelids.:p

You won't get too much time for that once you start your program.:nurse:

All the best!

Heh...Thanks, Diane! I do enjoy my beauty sleep!

Congrats! All I can say is enjoy your summer cause in the fall life as you know it will change...you are going to eat, sleep and breath nursing! Just keep these things in mind.....its all about critical thinking, decision making and the nursing process....focus on the nursing process and you will be solid. Keep up with your objectives, be organized, know how you best learn and do nclex questions....tons....it makes a difference. Oh and did I mention focus on the nursing process. Have fun, enjoy life, enjoy learning...don't forget to eat because its easy to forget when your studying all that info they throw at you..also exercise...even if its only 10minutes a day...something is better than nothing. :)

Unfortunately, I NEVER forget to eat!! LOL...

So I am more of a kinesthetic learner and like to have audio/visual learning as a secondary backup....Any suggestions on how I could best utilize those methods in the NS environment? Anyone else, pls jump in on this question, as well!

Congrats! I to will start my LPN in the fall. SOOO nervous about the big work load, but excited at the same time. :yelclap:

Congrats to you, as well!

We *HAD* to buy Saunders NCLEX RN review... It is a big yellow book... Cheaper on amazon than any place I've seen (including our college bookstore).

Specializes in New PACU RN.

Saunder's and Mosby's seem to be popular with folks. Try to get ones with CD included so that - when you want to have a quick review, u can without lugging the huge book around.
