Way to go!! :) I did the same thing about a year and a half ago. I was an accountant for about 10 years when I handed my resignation letter to my boss...boy was she blown away! I was so nervous telling her, I was shaking too (she was cool, though). It has been the best decision and I haven't looked back since. I love my classes and have never once doubted my decision. I start Nursing school this Fall.
Have fun on your new adventure....life is too short not to do the things we dream of. I'm rootin' ya on!! :)
congrats and good luck to you. i remember the day i came home and told my wife i'm quitting my job and i am going to work as a cna for half my normal pay so that i can go to nursing school (i have a wife and 2 kids and i am the sole source of income). well that was 2 1/2 years ago. i have one more year to go in nursing school. if i had not made that bold choice, i'd still be struggling and unhappy.
welcome to your next chapter...i hope it is an exciting and rewarding page turner!
sincerely,
jay

Well, this is it.Tomorrow I quit my 18 year flying career to become a nurse.
It is very hard to describe the feelings I am experiencing. I am 45 yrs old and changing careers.
Actually, I am very excited and very nervous too. I am sure my hand will be shaking as I feed my resignation letter throught the fax machine.
One chapter of my life is closing and a new and challanging chapter begins.

Congrats! You'll find that there are several folks who are in their 30's and 40's and on up in school these days. Quite common! They do well b/c they've kind of learned to buckle down in life and hit it hard :) And that's what you need to do to get through NS! :biggringi
Congrats on making such a big move! I got my nursing school acceptance letter last week and will be typing up my resignation letter this week. Although I begin school in January, it wouldn't be fair to my students if I quit mid-year, so I'd rather they start out fresh with a teacher who will be there from beginning to end. I wish you all the best!
