Yep quite a time and I'm so glad that part is over!! And now I'm just waiting for Jenn to come back tomorrow and yell I PASSED!! :)

By the way, another reason for the problem getting INTO nursing school is b/c everybody and their dog is trying!! See about 5 years ago, the news started to broadcast the average wages for nurses and that there is a shortage...so everyone decided hey, I'll become a nurse, I'm tired of making walmart wages. And so...a huge number begin their prereqs. Now don't forget other health professions require similar prereqs so those classes are HARD to get into... then, once you finish that...... you have this huge amount of ppl trying to enter nursing school and very few spaces avail (there you have the funding lack of, and teachers lack of/space lack of etc).... there just aren't that many nursing schools around and the hospitals etc can only handle so many students running around their floors at one time, also. that explains your tunnel "into" school. Before five years ago, you will hear from nurses, that they went in right out of high school many of them.....there was plenty of space in the schools - no wait lists, etc..you just went in. Now, it's different...in fact now, many schools are not even having wait lists anymore...they are simply saying "yes" or "no" and then you have to reapply every quarter. Even the straight A students are not necessarily getting into the spots b/c there are just too many applicants..depending on where you live, probably...I had to move 3 hours away to go to school..and now I'm moving back to where I came from now that I have my RN. But I could not get in where I was...and now, MY school has become even more in demand and has gone to the harder entrance requirements that other schools in my state have...so I got in just in time. By the way I was not a straight A student! Before, or during..I was a B student..I was a B student in NS too.... So there you have it...the 'tunnel' and then...the attrition rate...... and then the folks who dump the profession due to truly, being underpaid for their skills and'/or the stress....and that all equals a nursing shortage.

Go and ask the instructor on the day of the first class or before..if you can 'add' and w/their signature you can override and go to the class. Oftentimes instructors allow overload b/c they know some ppl will drop. Also take other classes b/c the longer you go and more credits you have the earlier your enrollment date will be...that is what I did..those two things. Also, be advised it's highly competetive to enter nursing school anymore...so be prepared to just hang in..and jump through hoops ...and keep at it...and be willing to move to wherever you can get in...b/c that is your path the whole way through! It ain't easy....but it can be done! :)

You will see good nurses; not good nurses; compassionate; not compassionate.....etc.... You really only need to focus on what type of nurse you will be.... and stick w/that. Eventually you will make a difference in peoples lives... and that's all that's important.

Oh my gosh..I've been licensed for a few hours and I totally forgot to do that!! hee hee hee..... but .... now I have!!! and yeah it's lookin' good!!!!

Yeah you know what's funnY? Pearson vue doesn't even have the results available yet...since it's been 24 hours ha ha...but yes my state does! I checked PV first..it said results sent successfully..plus they say whe you test, that results go right to your state immediately...... but I guess PV doesn't post them for 48. But let me tell ya I was ready to pay PV if they didn't hit my state first!!! I was actually so surprised to find them up there!!! I was like....shocked...but I checked anyway hoping it would be there! so maybe it does pay to keep checking even though you don't expect it!

Well, I live in WA state....but I think most states have similar things... I had to go to the dept of health (I googled it)...and then under there on their site, they have "Provider credentials" and we can search by name, it's a public data base...and anyway...I put in my name and there I was. So I think your state probably has one too..... if you googled your state board of nursing.....or your state dept of health..... you should be able to find a link!

I PASSEd!!!!!!! I went to my state licensing and there I am... "REGISTERED NURSE"!!!!!!! Hallelujah!!!! :monkeydance: :kiss :mortarboard: And I'm changin' my name! 777RNThatsMe!

PS Becky I bet you passed! I took that ATI too...in fifth quarter and it said I had either an 98/or 99 percent chance also.

:monkeydance: I Passed!!! I took it yesterday and today I looked on my board of nursing state licensing site....... and I'm there registered nurse! I was so worried when I took it yesterday b/c it was very difficult; I guessed at everything I had.... the last 1/2 was all priority bam bam bam ...20 or more. And it shut off at 75... well I worried because (a) it seemed so much peds was on there and that's my weak point..and (b) I did NOT study at all..I walked in...and took it...and just went for it.. but I passed!!! woo hoo! And I talked to an employer today...(3 hours away) and I have a job waiting for me and now have to move....in the next week!! WOW!!!

Congrats to all the 7/27 test takers who passed and are now RN!!!! :mortarboard: :kiss :nurse:
