This will be my second time as well and I am scheduled for Sept. 15. Ive been studying for 7 weeks now. Done with the Saunders and now i am doing Kaplan. I am really praying harder and studying harder although sometimes it is already giving me a headache so might as well take a lil break too. We can all do this!!! Let's all pass for the second time fellow sept takers.

I have the "nclex headache" too! :imbar i'm taking the nclex-pn the first week of september... im so nervous.. i've been studying and doing atleast 100's everyday but i feel like i dont know anything..

what have your average scores been on the saunders cd? i've been averaging 70 which i feel like isn't that great for me.. when i took the HESI i was averaging 80 :o

i wish all of you lots and lots of goodluck... :icon_hug:

How's everyone's studying coming along? I'm glad I'm not the only retester! We all have a great support group here! As for my studying, after finding out I failed I slowly got back into it and realized I didn't do any/enough content review before testing for my first time. So I spent a month or more just reading content and doing practice questions at the end of the chapters. Once I got a better grasp of the content I moved onto doing Kaplan again. And my scores had improved and I actually felt confident in answering the questions because I had content to back it up and I was able to really focus on the question and think about it rather than just jumping to an answer because I wasn't sure. I also got a 3 wk subscription from NCSBN and like the questions! I would say from what I remember the NCLEX questions are similar to NCSBN but not as challenging as Kaplan so I'm trying to cover all ground to make sure I am prepared and walk out a winner this time around!

I also have read through many threads on this website and have found lots of helpful information especially regarding drugs. I went through my books and made a list of common drug endings and have put important information next to them and go over those everyday or every other day along with lab values. Yes I lot of information. But I don't try to overdue it because I am trying not to exhaust myself.

As well as I pray a lot!!! I can't tell you how much this has helped me through this process of failing and picking myself back up. I have built more confidence in myself whereas compared to the first time I think I consciously was afraid of failing or what would happen and noticed myself doubting myself.

So that's been my gameplan! I have QT6&7 left to do. And 2 weeks to go! I'm going to finish strong and do everything I can do feel prepared and walk into that exam knowing I did everything I could to prepare and BELIEVE in myself!

Anyone else have tips/advice for second time around??

WE'RE GOING TO DO IT!

NICUrn2B I read on this site that if doing Saunders you should aim for 80% so if you aren't getting that you should reread the chapter and try to answer more questions on the CD in that specific area until you get above 80%. Just advice I've read on this website.

I am actually getting good grades with Saunder's. Before reading the content i am first doing the pre-test if i scored 75 or higher I'm just reading the rationales but if i really dont know the content and still got good grades i am still reading the content. And then after reading the content i am doing the test again and this time im making sure that i am getting higher score. There are times also that i am getting really low score so when that happens I am reading the content several times just for me to understand it. I'm doing 100 questions everyday too with Kaplan but with saunders i rarely used the cd i just did the q's from the book coz I noticed that most of them are just same with the book. I am an international student so I dont know what Hesi is. I know u will be fine. 70-80 is a good score though! Goodluck to u. We all still have few more weeks to pratice and study. We can do this!

oh bummer... :uhoh21:

Hi all! I just signed up and started the NCSBN. Im also using Saunders content book. That was my bible thru nursing school and like a dummy didnt use it at all the first time I took the test. I also just started lacharity's priority and Im doing ATI review (again). And then there are always the free nclex 3500 questions. I failed on the 8th of August took a week off and just started easing myself back into studying again. So far I have been doing 2 hours a night to get myself back into the "nclex mode". I have said it before and I will say it again. We ll passed nursing school for a reason. It wasnt a joke it wasnt a mistake. We have to remember that and go in teh second time or for those of you that its your first time with a positive attitude. If we go in thinking we are failures then we have already defeated ourselves. There have been many great doctors, nurses, etc who did not pass boards on the first time but in the end noone asks you how many times you took it they just know that you did it! I am praying for everyone on this forum and site to pass. I say a silent prayer everyday and sometimes outloud. People must think Im crazy because it looks like Im talking to myself but Im not Im talking to the man upstairs. Someones is listening they always are. The last thing Im going to add is this. One of my instructors sent this to me and I firmly believe it

Challenges in life don't arise haphazardly, no matter how accidental or coincidental they may seem. They only arrive when you're ready for them. Not when you're ready to be squashed, but when you're ready to grow, overcome and be more than who you were before they arrived.

NICUrn2B: I am doing Saunders, and my test scores have been in the 70-80 range as well. Some helpful advice that I got: Read the rationales for ALL of the questions, even the ones you got right, because you may not have answered it correctly for the "right" reason (like a guess & you didn't really know the theory or strategy involved). Also, pay attention to what KIND of questions you are getting right. The first time I took the test, I did low upper 60s low 70s on Saunders and got mostly Application right and Analysis wrong. But it's the Analysis questions that really matter most on the NCLEX!!!

I just simply did not review enough last time I took the NCLEX, so I am doing a content review and answering questions every day. I haven't stuck rigidly to 100/day, which I've read on here is the goal to reach, but with 3 wks left until my re-test date I made a pact with myself to do 100 every day until then. That'll put 2000 more questions under my belt, and hopefully I'll be able to walk out of the testing center a winner and put aside my NCLEX questions forever!

Hey Everybody!!!

I am taking this exam for the 2nd time as well. The first time i used kaplan... Kaplan was great but I realized i was missing core content! So this time around I am using Hogan Nclex review and Hurst! I am also using exam cram for the stimulated exam to see where I am on a CAT exam! My first time i took it was July 18 and I've been studying since July 20th! Today i felt like giving up because i am starting to feel overwhelmed!!:crying2: I am looking to sit again the begining of Sept!! i wish everyone the best and keep us posted on ur progress!!! Remember do atleast 100 questions a day!!! We will conquer the nclex devil!!!:banghead:

MH24--- THANKS, you are so right. The past few days have been very hectic & stressful with my new job and I didn't do the studying that I had planned. I got off track and started feeling very down about this situation (NCLEX: the sequel). And I will DEFINITELY need some :beercuphe& afterwards!

today got the best of me and i needed a glass of wine! now i am mellow:smokin:

im with you ujones00 today wasn't the greatest studying day so im trying to relax and have a better day tomorrow. try not to get overwhelmed. take a deep breath andremind yourself it will all work out. i know it's easier said than done but when i realize im getting overwhelmed i make myself take time off because i dont want to defeat the purpose of studying. hang in there. relax tonight and get back at it tomorrow! we can do it!

have you received your att?? i got mine last week and thought i might be able to test next week but it was all full in 4 testing centers until sept 1. so i hope you get yours soon so you can pick your date!
