Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie chat. We can then discuss issues like the Morris - oops Davis inquiry in Queensland and what it will mean for Q health and for the rest of Australia.
We can talk cricket, sport and anything else that is just us.

I agree with those who say that this is a disgraceful occurrance. This is so unlike the Australia I know. But I do wonder about the role of the media especially talk back radio. Sydney has such a large audience for the likes of Alan Jones who is not exactly migrant friendly.
I just hope it stops and soon and that we really get to the bottom of what caused it.
Sadly there are White Supremacists out there and the internet has not only fueled thier beliefs but has also validated as they have found more to feed off their abberrant world view.

What happened was dreadful.
But to have LIFEGUARDS, doing a vital service, assaulted and bashed, is unforgivable. That it was perpetrated by people who probably do NOTHING to serve the community/country, ( bashing our lifeguards is NOT serving the country!), and seek to cause mischief and do harm, is reprehensible!
It was the "straw which broke the camel's back". The thing which triggered reprisal and set loose the resentments, anger, frustration, felt by many.
I do not condone violence in any form. What happened is so foreign to how we live and do things in Australia. Just as the thing which triggered it is. We do NOT bash and assault our LIFESAVERS doing their job.
That's NOT the AUSTRALIAN way!
One can only hope for things to settle down.
Sadly, I fear things will only deteoriate further.
There seems to have been a simmering problem there for some time. It is the text messaging that has really caused the problems. I fear this may be the start of something new - the flash riot. Just like in school where the chant of "fight fight" could gather a crowd faster than free ice-creams so the text messages seem to have fueled this disgrace.

I would never say I'm ashamed to be Australian. It should never have gotton out of hand like that. But believe me, my sister and her husband live at Cronulla and there's a lot more to it then the media are showing.

Well, who would've believed it ..... I got diagnosed with Gastric Reflux!!!!
It appears, the reflux triggers the asthma! I've been on a sharp learning curve since learning this bit of news. Combined with a post nasal drip, the GR is what's been making me so crook! I'm such a dumbass, I NEVER even thought I might have GR! Totally ignored the symptoms! Didn't make ANY connection at all! Amazing!
It's worth Google-ing and researching it. I've certainly been enlightened about this and the connection to it triggering asthma. Either I've long since forgotten, (it IS a long time ago since I did any work in that field!), or, I've just never known of this. Unreal!
Anyway.... I'm on meds now and doing all the right things to help alleviate the problem. Beginning to "turn the corner", at LAST! THANKBLOODYGOODNESS! It's been a long time being unwell!
