Welcome to the Forum - General Aussie Chat

Published

Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie chat. We can then discuss issues like the Morris - oops Davis inquiry in Queensland and what it will mean for Q health and for the rest of Australia.

We can talk cricket, sport and anything else that is just us.

Say hello to new members dropping by.

Generally find out what is happening in the rest of the country.

I will make this thread a "sticky" so that it will always be at the top of the forum.

Heck, I was censored... lol I never said a darn derogerative thing about my cats - oh well.

Hello! I was invited to get back and chat - that is great! Been nursing for nearly 40 years and after beating some major surgery am back again - nursing. I am at The Park and work on Rehab and I must say I find it very rewarding.

Mental health has always been my greatest burn (- that is after my lovely lady and family).

The new Labour Government promises some great things for the caring profession and us nurses! It is going to be a very exciting year. Even with a drought!

Happy and exciting and prosperous new year readers.

Hugs, smiles and kisses from Mister Chris:specs:

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm currently an American Nursing student doing an RN-MSN program in California. The reason I'm posting here is because my boyfriend, who happens to be Australian and resides in Melbourne, and I have been together for almost 3 years now and I am planning to move to Melbourne to do nursing after graduation in 2008 :)

I came across this discussion forum a few months ago and it seems to have lots of great information and resources. I look forward to learning more about Australian nursing and the process to apply/register in Australia as I complete my education here.

Hello again to all the aussie nurses :)

Just wanted to share (because I'm beyond over the moon excited) that I received my notifcation that i'm officially a registered nurse in the state of victoria! Currently working on the job situation, but I can't wait to relocate to Australia!! Thanks again for all the great advice from all the aussie users here :)

Yah, i have been looking for a chat thing for ages.

but bring back Aussie Rules.

Does anyone have or know any with, in interest in CAM and holistic nursing.

thanks

I posted about this before, but maybe not in the right place? Any sign of immigration policy changing, so that older nurses might be allowed to migrate to Australia from the US?

I am not Australian, but I have immediate family there. My grandfather emigrated from Sicily to America after WWI to the NYC area (chock full of Italians). His brother tried to emigrate a few years later, but by them America had cut down on emigation from Southern Europe, where of course Italy is. After trying for a couple of years to get a Visa to emigrate to America, he decided to emigrate to Western Australia instead. He got settled, and sent for his wife and daughter a year later. They had two boys after his wife got to Australia.

My mother corresponded ocasionnally with her cousin, who is about the same age as she was. My mother passed away two years ago, and I wrote to her cousins in Australia to let them know she has passed away.

They, of course, have children, who have children, etc. My daughters (17 and 14) E mail their second cousins in Australia, and discuss, school, activities, BOYS, etc. My grandmother turned 100 last May, and they sent a card to my grandmother.

Anyway, I read the Australia thread sometimes. Maybe one of these days I will be able to visit Australia, and finally see meet them in person.

HI everyone

Though I'd pop in and say hi:wink2:

I'm about to start (Monday) my first year of bachelor of nursing!! I can't believe I'm going to be a :nurse: - I'm so excited!!!

I am studying externally through CDU, I'm in Brissy, so have to travel to Darwin or Alice once a year for clinical teaching block. I'm so excited, yet so darn scared.

Looking forward to getting to know you better, cheers Zoe:D

Hi Zoe!

I've just made it through my first two weeks of my first year at ACU in Brissy. I'm loving it so far, even if it's been more full on than I expected - I've got 3 assignments due in this week (week 3), including one tomorrow.

There's a few of us here starting this year, so I'm sure we can all help each other out and offer encouragement when it's needed.

Thanks for the welcome Ronnie:nuke:

Well I survived the first day, and managed to work through the topic fairly easily - hope it stays this way.

WOW assignments due - arr, so glad I'm not there yet, but heck I've got 2 assignments due end of week 3, so I'd better get cracking soon.

Zoe
