Welcome to the Forum - General Aussie Chat

World Australia

Published

Having been guilty myself of hijacking threads saying hello and just chatting to my fellow Aussies I thought it might be worthwhile for us to have a thread that is just dedicated to general Aussie chat. We can then discuss issues like the Morris - oops Davis inquiry in Queensland and what it will mean for Q health and for the rest of Australia.

We can talk cricket, sport and anything else that is just us.

Say hello to new members dropping by.

Generally find out what is happening in the rest of the country.

I will make this thread a "sticky" so that it will always be at the top of the forum.

Hi, Have just returned from a trip to the US. Just wanted to let you know that the friend's we make here on allnurses are wonderful people! I had the opportunity to meet with a couple during my visit and they are lovely people. Made me very welcome in America. Just goes to show how the interent can be a great source not only for obtaining information, but to bring people together.

THANK YOU BRIAN for starting this fabulous website!

Thanks Tina! It's good to be back home! LOVED America, but there's NO place like home! Except that it's winter! :-(

I'm waiting for handover on how IR protests in your cities were! In Melbourne, I'd estimate there were 50,000 people in the CBD tops. On the platform, they said 150K, but the speakers always exaggerate. Mostly tradies, to judge from the flags and banners. Bomber Beazley was there, but he got tepid applause except for when he said "If we are elected, we will tear up these laws!" Can Labor please campaign with Kim's hands, and leave the rest of him in WA? I didn't see many nurses (just one ANA contingent in black shirts) but then again, I was handing out leaflets for my anti-nuclear group.

Welcome Meg. I was in Canberra in May for the ACORN conference. We had beautiful weather and it wasn't nearly as cold as I thought it would be. All the best with your studies.

Just wanted to say HELLO again....I posted in January to say I was waiting for my registration from QNC..........just to let you know today I go into my NINTH month of waiting for the registration. I have been approached by employers in QHA to apply for jobs, which I am doing..but can't proceed without my registration. QNC will not give any info to QHA...QHA has been super. My frustration with my registration process even got published in the Cairns post, when they were doing and still are doing their UK recruitment...can you sense my total FRUSTRATION???:Crash: :angryfire

HI Cultuslakenurse. :o :imbar Hey sorry to hear that you have been waiting so long. I contacted QNC sometime back and was advised that they have been inundated with applications from overseas qualified nurses since late 2005, thus the delay. It looks like gaining registration in Qld will be the biggest hurdle. Jobs are in abundance and DIMIA is willing to fast track applications for nurses so .................... watch this space.

I have some friends from overseas who are also waiting for outcome of application for registration in Qld and they have been offered jobs too. I hope you won't have to wait too much longer for your registration.

I wonder if there are any overseas qualified nurses out there who could share their experience with QNC to do with applying for registration.:)
