Welcome to Everyone

I am now taking on the responsiblity of moderator for the Australian forum and wish to welcome all vistors here.

As you can see from the title of this thread I want to extend the welcome to all nurses in the pacific region.

Aussies

Kiwis

PNG

Phillipines

South Sea Islands

China

And all others - Welcome!!!

I want to encourage the growth of this forum not only for Australians but for all those within our region. There has been discussion on this forum about making it a wider base and changing the name. If we have a lot of participants from the regional areas I will bring this up with Brian and see what he thinks.

Having talked to many of the members posting on this section of the board I am aware that there are a number of nurses working in China and South east Asia as well as the Phillipines who are looking to come to Australia and work. To help you I will be posting the websites of the various State Nursing Registration Boards as well as any other information you would like to know - like what shifts do we work, although on second thought, that may not be a good idea. I told one Chinese nurse about late/early shifts and I think she is now applying to register in America!!!:D

I also intend to build up a "glossary" to help translate some of the American terms we are not familiar with i.e

"Going to the MAR = checking out the drug chart"

Please feel free to PM me at any time

Thank you for moderating this forum. I hang around here. I wanted to come to Australia to work so bad in the Coffs Harbour area at Baringa. It is a dream I am holding onto.

Thank - you Renerian. I keep meaning to ask - Why Coff's Harbour? There are so many beautiful places in Northern NSW, and in Queenland and in the rest of Australia ( Okay I love my country!:)) As I write this I am flicking through my "Guide to NSW National Parks" I sooo want to go on hols again!!!

I have a friend there who said I would be able to find housing there and I already contacted someone at Baringa. They said they would love to have me but the fees to go are around 3 to 4,000 USD. I just don't have that kind of money to plunk down. Plus there are other fees. Some hospitals sponser nurses but this administrator said they do not. I understand it is a private hospital so I guess they can do what they want.

Do you know much about that area?

I live north of there in Brisbane. Don't know Coffs Harbour that well but of course I have travelled and holidayed around NSW. Some really beautiful places unfortunately a lot of them are being taken over and exploited for development. A lot of the hospitals around those areas are small hospitals with only the larger centres such as Armidale and Lismore.

:balloons: :biggringi

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW DUTIES.

Can us American's come here too?? please.......pretty please?

I'm just smack dab in the middle of of the US of A but would love to learn more about your home.

Sorry Jayna I did origianally include your home country but then thought - gosh there are so many countries in the region - micronesia, Solomon Islands, Bouganville, Timor, Malasia, Cook Islands Etc Ets - if I tried to name EVERYONE I would leave someone oout and really offend them so I tried to make it reasonably general.

The wellcome is still open to all in the region as I would like to build up connections with our neighbours:)

Jayna - I know that you are just waiting ot get an eyeful of our Defence force boys!!!:lol2:
