Weiss Memorial RN residency

U.S.A. Illinois

Has anyone gone through the Weiss Memorial RN residency program or interviewed or know anything about it other than what can already be found online? Any inside info would be appreciated regarding the interview & hiring process as well as the program itself. Thanks!

Stella Radcliffe and the nurse educators are great. I think they really believe in the new grad program, but watch out what floor you are on. Weiss has many many nurses from foreign countries that they favor and who are ruthless on new grads. Plus there is Dr. McCreary who is an absolute satan spawn with new nurses. You will fear giving report to some of the experienced nurses who have been there for 100 years. The CNAs are always disappearing so I spent most of my time cleaning patients. Watch out for the mean nurses who go around and check your patients and threaten to report you to management for not cleaning your patients even though you just cleaned them five minutes ago. Weiss is not a happy place to work. I was there for 8 months and left because it was toxic. The new grad education part is good, but the floor practice is not. Instead of assigning you a preceptor, you will take on a patient from each nurse because they are too cheap to staff properly. The best part of Weiss is the location near the lake.

Icechick i can not reply to you privately so to answer the question basically yes that is what they said to me and the n checked my references also..

Really losing hope because i called HR and they blew me off in 10 secs that the position hadn't been filled and they would call me either way...

At this point i really jjust wanna know either way so i can plan the next few months.

it sounds like you did well I only interviewed with one person so did well being with 2.

I wish you all the best.. lemme know and i will do the same..

Can anyone answer this qusestion for me please?

If i wasn't chosen for a position in the new grad program would they call me to let me know or would they not bother.

Thanks

I spoke to an HR person last week and she basically told me that they received a ton of apps & they want to interview almost everyone (phone screening). If you don't make it to the 2nd interviews, you will get a rejection e-mail within a week. After the 2nd interviews, it really depends on how busy/how much the nurse manager likes you to hear the final decision. From what I've gathered from other people I've talked to, if you aren't in consideration, you will hear sooner rather than later (thru a rejection e-mail).

Well i have just got off the phone with HR at Weiss and guess what i got the job!!!!

i cannot believe it, so happy i can't even think straight.

Thanks for all the support it meant a lot.

Thanks

Hi I just had a phone interview a few minutes ago..Does anyone know how many people Weiss is taking and when the actual start date is? Also did those of you who were offered a job get offered your second interview immediately after the phone interview? Just trying to see if i'm on the right track.

I got my second interview right away but others have had theirs after a week or so and still got the position. the start dates are 15th and the 29th.

Good luck to you.

Smiggers!! You are my new best friend! I got the job too!!! So excited!! I start Aug.29, is that when you start?

Just a recap for anyone who is curious about the process: I had a phone interview, then 8 days after that I got a call to schedule a face to face interview for the next day. My face to face interview was on Friday and they told me that HR was already closed, but they would call me to set up my background check & sign papers. They called me yesterday, told me to come in for a background check so I went in today and right when I walked in the door, they extended me an offer.

So super excited!!! Good luck to everyone who is still in the process!!

a classmate of mine also found out that she got the job today. I guess they were telling a lot of people today!

Yep I start on the 29th. So happy and excited. :yeah:

Ok so now its over a week since I had my telephone interview and still no call.. I am getting really worried since it is getting really close to the both start dates... I called yesterday and the lady gave me the same generic response that I assume she tells everyone.. I will be notified if they are interested, however the positions have not all been filled..Do any of u have friends that were rejected after the phone interview?? Were they notified or is that just for the people who had a face to face interview?

I wouldn't give up yet. it seems like others have waited longer than a week for there call back. If she said that the program wasn't full that is a good thing.

I will have my fingers crossed for you...

Good luck!!!!!!
