Does anybody have any they would like to share?
Here are some of mine:
Whenever my grandmother had leg cramps, she would wrap her leg very tightly in saran wrap. It worked like a charm.
If your hair is greying at the roots and you don't have time to dye it, rub ground coffee (of course only for brunettes) into the roots. They will cover up enough grey untill you have time to get your hair done.
Itching like crazy? Take out the vinegar and pour on itchy spots. You might smell bad, but at least the itching stops.
I know their are a lot more, but my brain how ceased to recall any more at this time.
How about yours?
THANKS :)
Jules
I'm really enjoying all these great suggestions!
It is true about cranberry juice curing a UTI..
It is true that yogurt (eaten) will help cure diarrhea r/t ABX
It is true that vinegar works on jelly-fish stings. Read that in my daughter's high school marine bio book.
Did you know that if your car won't start because of corrosion on the battery posts, you can fix it by pouring on a coke?
It is also true that I'm glad I'm on Atkins and not eating potatoes either!!! Euuwwwwwwww on the vines!
For any type of respiratory complaint:
Slice an onion, put in bowl
Cover with apple cider vinegar (not normal vinegar)
Large dollop of honey to taste
Cover and let sit for 4 hours, Stir, then take a tablespoon of the liquid every hour.
Ok, your breath will smell, but what the..? You can breathe freely, it kills green gooey noses on kids in less than a day.
Personally, if I were to catch SARS, i'd give this a try before I'd consider taking prednisone.
I eat a teaspoon of peanut butter when I get the hiccups;works for me everytime.
For a nagging cough put equal amounts of lemon juice and honey and add as much cayenne pepper as you want, mix this up real good and take a teaspoon or two when you start coughing. Works for me, any way.
For acne, wash your face with Lava soap, lather it up on your hands and wash your face for 1 minute, rinse well. My skin has improved since I started washing my face this way once a day.
Okay, Gwenith, thank you for the hiccup cure! I get hiccups ALL the time when I get stressed out, and I'm going to try this.
I'm wondering- you know, Nurse-zine (the allnurses newsletter?) went out recently, and one of the "Here's our recent discussions..." was this thread ("Lysol douche"). I wonder how many people came here and signed up just to figure out what the heck we were talking about?
I was having chronic UTIs and found a book written by a non-medical lady. I used her advice and have never had another one. First, when the "tingle" starts, use 1-2 tsps baking soda mixed in whatever helps get it down (i.e. jelly, sugar, etc.). Then start drinking water like crazy, at least 8oz every 20 minutes. Repeat the baking soda about every hour. It raises the urine pH and makes it less painful to pass. Cranberry juice helps prevent bacterial growth but in the throws, it lowers the pH and makes for very painful urination. To prevent "honeymoon cystitis" we make sure we're both clean, use KY, and I void afterwards. Doesn't make for spontaneity but at least I'm not suffering anymore with the antibiotics--that lead to yeast infections. Glad to hear about the yogurt thing--gonna try it next time!:roll

As far as I know, diesel or any car oil will soak into skin on animals, humans too... not a good idea!
