Whatever micro class you take, be sure to take one that includes a lab. Most nursing schools will want your science classes to include a lab, and won't accept one without. Why don't you contact the nursing school you plan to attend, to see what they will accept; they might not even accept an online micro class, period.

Check out New Mexico Junior College. They offer 6-8 week science courses, including micro WITH a lab component. It is entirely online and as long as you read and do the daily assignments, it is pretty easy to make an A. The instructor was -------------------. She was pretty awesome--even did an online chat/study session and gave bonus points to the final grade for those who attended. Not sure what the schedule is this semester but they do offer "off session" type courses. Hope this helps!

I'm starting Azusa Pacific on May 5th. It has a micro class that is all online with a lab. It's expensive, however. Also, it's part of a certificate that covers all of the science prereqs. I don't know how it works if you only take one class. I think it's possible but you would have to pay out of pocket - no financial aid.

I know this post is late but I ended up taking Micro this summer at New Mexico Junior College. I made an A. You should definitely check them out.

Did the credits transfer to CSUs? I would think it isn't equivalent to a semester long in class course.
I would check with your advisor but my course transferred to my local community college in Austin, TX. There were about 70 students taking the course and and only a handful were from New Mexico. Yes, it was only an 8 week course but we covered the entire microbiology textbook. I took 11 hours this summer and worked full-time it was extremely intense but definitely doable. The professor is very particular about what she wants but as long as you follow instructions you'll definitely pass!
