Tweety glad the eye exam went well
Stars thankfully he wasn't injured in that fall. I can see how it would cause a lot of anxiety
NJ22 I hope that the vet was able to address those symptoms
Ado glad she was willing to take on that role
Another fairly quiet day at work. Hoping it continues, although next week someone will be out all week. Have a review today, shouldn't take too long, fairly sure it will be good
Was going to walk after work but it was raining. Stayed in instead before book club, made the mistake of reading something about retirement planning, which always gets my anxiety going. Will have to address that with the counselor
Book club was fairly good, had 2 new people there. Most people seemed to like the book, but I had some more mixed feelings about it. I think I will like the next one better
Will exercise after work today and then have a vestry meeting. Will be glad when I'm done with that.
Will be warmer today, in the upper 70s, rain should hold off

Longevity runs in my family (both parents are still alive) and I'm currently without illness. So I'm preparing for the long haul, but also traveling and enjoying life mow should I drop dead today. I hope to continue to travel in the years to come.
I had to refinance my house in my 50s after my divorce and will have a mortgage into my 80s.
I have heard that our local hospital (where I worked for 15 years) is just giving a lump sum from the future on.
Since I left there 20 years ago, 10 years ago HR called and offered a generous lump sum so they did not have to keep me on their books.
I am sad to say my health is not great with multiple Bowel obstructions in my 50s. But may be I will be like my first cat...she was always in poor health..I always seemed to be taking her to the Vet. She lived until she was 21!
Sorry If I was a grouch.

Nothing to apologize for. I wish you a long and healthy life.
When I started my job 31 years ago they had a pension but not long after dropped it in favor of 403B's which was becoming the norm in industry. Years later they offered me a lump sum of $12,000 or I could get something like $50 in retirement. I took the lump sum

Don't you wonder how they can renege on their "promises" when you agree to work for employer. If they said in the advertisement, You must be licensed as an RN in the state, and then after 10 years you said " No I decided I don't want to be licensed as an RN any more.", wouldn't that be a breach of promise?
Yeah, I do wonder.
In 1984 I went to work for a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors. I had a pension plan. The company provided our healthcare benefits. We received periodic cost of living allowances. Though the salaried employees were not members of the UAW we benefitted from the negotiations the union went through on behalf of the hourly employees.
Over the years, we had to contribute more and more to our health insurance premiums, COLA disappeared, and other benefits eroded. I do still have a pension (it was turned over to the PBGA when the company, no longer part of GM, emerged from Chapter 11 in 2009 and I lost my job of 25 years).

I don't remember being promised a pension as long as I worked there but it was disconcerted when they went to a 403B. But to their credit they make contributions.
On the other hand we just had a new grad that oriented for 16 weeks and worked two weeks on the floor only to quit to get a job that was closer to her home.
It seems no one owes anyone any loyalty these days.

Hoping Angus stays comfortable. It is always so hard when they have these issues.
Tweety - we are scoping out Florida for retirement (middle class income). Any areas you recommend?
