Good morning!

Brother in law picked up his dog and he was glowing, saying what a good place it was and he was sure I'd like it.  I'd never been to the lakes in central Florida and it sounded like fun.  Will have to check it out.  Our dogs have never been kenneled.

I had a decent four days off but its time to go back to the old grind.  I took a klonopin to sleep and hate the way it makes me feel in the morning.  But seriously I remember turning out the lights and then getting up and seven hours have gone by.  That is a great feeling, it's the hangover I don't like.

Amo, don't feel bad.  It took me a few minutes to notice the icon for the break room at the top of the page instead of the sidebar that for me is eliminated.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Tweety glad you had 4 days off

Hi sirI and Amo

NJ22 glad the acupuncturist is listening

Dianah does sound like a busy day

Work was less crazy than yesterday although still a bit of a struggle to adapt to the new system.  I think in the next week or two everything should settle down and I'll be able to work as quickly in the new system as the old

Had a weird burst of anxiety last night for  no apparent reason.  It faded although I noticed it took a bit longer to fall asleep and sleep was somewhat more restless, with frequent dreams

Today have grocery shopping and choir practice after work

Going to get up to the 50s today, with rain tonight which will briefly switch to freezing rain overnight then snow tomorrow.  Hoping this is the last of the snow

Weather is overcast, not cold, not warm. I went for a short run. I drove my sister to her wound check at the cardiology office. They said it looked better, incision is healing, swelling is decreasing. She had some impressive bruising: arm pit, and arm to elbow, breast and across the bottom of her ribs. It's slowly resolving. She got the okay to drive.

Back to work this afternoon, not looking forward to it. But I will have Monday off for the holiday. Dh flew to Reno this morning for a trade show, which means I don't have to cook dinner for the next two nights. I was mildly irritated last night when I made that crack slaw and fried rice, and he came home late and didn't eat any of it. I guess I know what I'm having for lunch for the next 2 days.

There is talk that we may get an electronic record soon. I will believe it when I see it. And we get so much by fax that will have to be scanned it, and from my experience, those can be hard to access.

I could've sworn I posted yesterday, but I didn't post! Just before I went to bed, I did type a Letter to the Editor in the Charlotte Observer, and this AM I rec'd an email that said they will be publishing it tomorrow! It was regarding an editorial in which they essentially said nurses needed to be retained by treating them with more respect and better pay, or roughly that. I wrote saying that what they didn't mention was probably more responsible for burn-out of nursing personnel than wages, and that is the patient-nurse ratio. I haven't got a copy of my letter, but since it will be in the paper tomorrow I can tell you what I said. Anyway, I wonder if it will get any response pro or con. I'll let you know.

Got the very last bottle of Rescue Remedy on the shelf at the HFS today. I'm glad, because we had only one small dropper-full left and the weather report they were talking about yesterday said thunderstorms on Thursday. Ozzie HATES thunderstorms, and I wanted to be sure to have some drops to calm him down. Now they are saying we may have some rain overnight tomorrow night, but that's it, and it will be gone by daybreak. Well, it was a nice drive out to the HFS anyway. I got just a few small extra things for me, but overall was shocked at how much prices have gone up through the roof! So much for 'treating' myself like I used to when I shopped there!

Oops, gotta stop for now................tawk with youse laytah!

Or a gallon of gas for the same amount?

But you don't want to spread gasoline on your English Muffins!

On my 5th night and so ready for a little break. Starting to thunder and lightning a little bit outside but nothing like the severe weather that was predicted. Temp dropped from 64 to 45 in the last couple of hours.

Lots of errands for my days off. I can't remember when I said I would volunteer at the wildlife rehab this week -- probably Sat morning. Last Saturday what I did there was wash several loads of laundry.

I hope you are all having a good week.

How cool that you volunteer at a wildlife rehab!  Do they utilize your nursing skills or have you doing other tasks?  I have a friend who does raptor rehab, and we have visited a couple of times (been hissed at by owl babies ❤️ ).  I have heard that the San Diego Zoo hires nurses with NICU experience for their newborn animal nursery.  Imaging caring for little fluffs!  I'm sure you will get everything done that you need to (you know what "they" say: if you want something done, give it to a busy person!).

Alas, I am unable to do nursing care there. The vet is good about letting volunteers observe things he's doing and that is interesting. I've done a lot of food prep (fruits and veggies. cat food, formula, meal worms, etc. So far no one has asked me to cut up dead rats or fish). Even fed mashed flies to a baby bird. I've cleaned lots of cages in the mammal nursery and the bird room. In the busy part of the year (coming soon) the mammal nursery is quite busy with many possums and squirrels. Soon I'm supposed to be trained to feed baby squirrels and I'm excited. Thanks for asking!

One of my favorite jobs when I stepped out of nursing for a while was being The Live Animal Room Lady---It was so great taking care of the critters. Ours were mostly injured or very young animals, and birds of prey. We did shows for the public at the museum, and I even got to be on TV a couple of times (The NOON Show?) as a sort of small-time Joan Embry, who used to bring animals on to the Tonight Show. I cleaned and fed all of 'em, and socialized the animals (that could not be released ) so they were not difficult with the shows for the public (Wanna pet a snake, anyone?) Anyway I LOVED it!
