Weatherford LVN Spring 2014

Published

Hey guys :-) I was looking through threads and didn't see any about the LVN program this Spring at WC. I have applied to 3 schools this summer; 2 were for ADN programs and the other was WC lvn. I lacked points for the ADN programs but got a letter from WC saying Ive been chosen as a alternate in the LVN program :-)

While getting my BSN was my first choice, it is definitely a step in the right direction to get my nursing license and then continue in a bridge program. Orientation for WC is Dec 3rd. Anyone else been accepted/alternate?!?

Specializes in Neuro/EMU, Pediatrics, Med Surg.

No and it sucks!!! There is nothing fun about being an alternate lolCould you imagine all the last minute stuff there is!? Plus being mentally prepared...ugh

I've gotten my books (ordered from the book rep that came to orientation), backpack, shoes and picking out scrubs tomorrow. I'll still need to get patches.

I ordered books from him too but they haven't come yet. Did you get a stethoscope yet? I'm getting nervous and excited for Monday.

Yes, got my stethoscope and just got back from buying scrubs. I got them at the Uniform Store in the strip center on College right there by WC. The people are real nice and they have a great selection, know exactly what we need for LVN and are flexible on exchanges. They will see patches on when needed too.

I got my books a couple of weeks ago. All I need are the patches and the nurse kit from the bookstore. I went Monday, but they weren't ready, so I am picking that up next week. :)

Quick question....Are you guys taking a laptop or a tablet? Is everyone taking all of the books the first day? I feel like I need a suitcase to take it all.

The first day I'm probably just taking a spiral and some pens and pencils. I bought a rolling backpack for my books but not bringing it with everything the first day.

Well they said we needed all of our books the first day, so I guess just to be on the safe side, I will lugg all my books. I may leave my laptop at home though. It looks like there is one more spot open.... Pd82, any word?

I saw that one spot...kinda weird but they must have a plan for it. I did not hear anything and if they call me Monday I would not be able to take it because of my job.

They must have had a lot of applicants, it must have been very competitive!! You all are very lucky to be chosen and I am happy for you guys!! :-)

As for me, I have my spring classes at DCCCD all set up and I plan to reapply for the Fall nursing programs at TCU, WC, El Centro and Mountain View.

Good luck everyone!!

Where are you seeing that?! I feel like I'm reading and re-reading everything and just missing that!!

Sorry PD82! Was hoping you would get a call.

Amberranay, it didn't say it on the paper, so we may not need them. At orientation, one of the instructors just said that we would need our books the first day so not to wait to buy them. She may have meant for homework, but I figured I would take them just in case.

I am so nervous about tomorrow!

All of them just barely fit in my backpack and I'm afraid the zipper may bust LOL!! On the pink paper from orientation it just says for first day to bring pen, paper and planner. I may bring my books but leave them in my car so I don't have to lug them up the hill just in case
