Hey guys :-) I was looking through threads and didn't see any about the LVN program this Spring at WC. I have applied to 3 schools this summer; 2 were for ADN programs and the other was WC lvn. I lacked points for the ADN programs but got a letter from WC saying Ive been chosen as a alternate in the LVN program :-)
While getting my BSN was my first choice, it is definitely a step in the right direction to get my nursing license and then continue in a bridge program. Orientation for WC is Dec 3rd. Anyone else been accepted/alternate?!?

Hi there,
We have a similar story! BSN was my first choice. I too lacked the points to make it into the ADN, but I was accepted into the LVN program for this spring. I'm so excited to begin my journey! Dec 3 seems so far away. I wish we already had details about school.
Have you completed anything on your checklist yet?
Yay, congrats to you! How many points did you have to be accepted?
I read the acceptance deadline is Nov 15 so I am hoping that around that time they will start letting alternates know if they got in or not; or maybe at orientation?? I already faxed back my acceptance and I have my fingerprint appt today.
Thank you very much! My fingers are crossed for you now!!
I think I ended up with 13 points.
I have already completed my fingerprinting and vaccinations. Now I have to do the CPR class, back screening and all the rest.
I too have heard that they usually end up using a lot of alternates so I think it's definitely worth following through with everything.

I was accepted for Spring 2014 also. Ready to get the checklist behind me! It's a little overwhelming!!
Congrats amberranay! How many points did you have?
I am an alternate with 11 or 12 points. I hope to hear something this month about my status. Theres alot to do before January 13th!!!

I had 14 points. I heard that they go through alternate list almost every semester so just be sure to go to orientation no matter what!
Where do you all live/how far will you be commuting if at all to WC? I live about 40 minutes away with no traffic so hoping it's smooth sailing every morning on 820...YAH RIGHT!!
amberranay-Thanks! I will be crossing my fingers.
I live in roanoke/keller so it will be a long commute for me also. Ive taken a few of the courses already (nutrition, A&P) so I am hoping that will cut down my class time the first semester.
Congrats Amberranay!
I live in southwest Fort Worth area. I imagine it will take me about 30 minutes to get there.
The checklist is quite exhausting! Does anyone else need CPR classes still? Mine just expired.
Emass-I work at a hospital so my CPR has to always be good, and luckily they pay for it along with my vaccines. I do need to get that spine exam and all that, but I'll do that when I know I'm in for sure :)
Random question- do you guys know if the program will teach us IV therapy? I know as an LVN, being competent in IV's will be a valuable skill but not all programs teach it. I tried looking into the course descriptions but there is not much detail.
There are 1-2 day programs that can teach IV cert and I am considering attending one, unless its already in the WC program. In that case, Ill just wait.
