Weatherford LVN Spring 2014

Published

Hey guys :-) I was looking through threads and didn't see any about the LVN program this Spring at WC. I have applied to 3 schools this summer; 2 were for ADN programs and the other was WC lvn. I lacked points for the ADN programs but got a letter from WC saying Ive been chosen as a alternate in the LVN program :-)

While getting my BSN was my first choice, it is definitely a step in the right direction to get my nursing license and then continue in a bridge program. Orientation for WC is Dec 3rd. Anyone else been accepted/alternate?!?

I have to keep my CPR current as I work for a school district and it's required but it expires in March 2014. She said I could just renew during spring break.

You can always call or email Karen Long...she's really good about answering questions about the program!

So there is a spring break in the program??

So there is a spring break in the program??

yes, there's a spring break and a week or so in the summer too but classes run through the summer and fall and we will finish up around the first week of December

From Karen Long:

The spring program is January – December. First semester is January – May. Second semester is May – September. Third semester is October – December.

You will have spring break off in March, two weeks off in the summer which is usually the last week of June and the first week of July, and I think another week around the third week of August. You will graduate the first or second week of December.

Awesome, good info!!

I did email her yesterday to probe for my place on the alternate list (it was worth a shot!) but she couldnt give me any info. Ill be at orientation and hopefully hear something soon :-)

My fingers are crossed for you, PD82. Maybe you will hear something early next week after some people have sent in their declines.

I too am curious about IV therapy. I'm also wondering about clinical sites and rotations. I have so many questions, I can't wait for orientation.

I can't wait either! Very exciting!

So what are you guys doing as far as working while in the program? Do you have it all worked out as far as how you will balance school/work/family?

I currently work 7-3 at a hospital, M-F. So my work schedule will need to completely change, or Ill have to find another job. I like where I work, they pay techs pretty decent, and I think they will work with me as much as they can, but I just don't know how much Ill be able to work while in the lvn program.

I looked at the lvn curriculum on the WC site, and it looks like M-F daytime hour classes and clinicals...

I currently work for a school district as a clinic sub and hearing/vision screener. I will not be able to work since LVN school is during the same time as normal school hours. My husband is our main income so we just have to make due for the next year without my supplemental income. It's very scary and nerve wracking because this summer we will also have to pay for childcare.

Also, only two more weeks until orientation!! Can't wait to find out all the ins and outs!!

I'm waiting to hear about our class schedule too, but I'm thinking I won't be able to work. I'm a little nervous but I am hoping that since its just for a year I will be able to manage.
