Weatherford College LVN Program Fall 2015

Published

Hello...I am going to be applying for the LVN program.....I just learned of the point system.....Can someone please tell me what is the least amount of points someone has been accepted with?

Congratulations! I got alternate too. KL said they went from 7 to 2 points for alternates this application period. They used all alternates the last two semesters so there is hope!

did you get in yet???? the final day to turn in a response is tomorrow so let us know!!! :)

I will be working part time. And I'm scared to death. At least working weekends you can study during the week. I will be working right after school until 9 plus weekends, and I'm married with two kids so I'm freaking out. But hopefully i will find time to study. I have a feeling me and my planner will be besties lol

No word yet but I will let you know! I'm anxious!!!

I'm in!!!!! Just got a call from KL today!

lets cross our fingers!! i know some people who got into both programs and chose rn so there's hope.

Thank you! Just have to complete the checklist now. Does anyone know where the previous classes do their clinicals?

I was an alternate who got called the first day of classes- so don't lose hope!

The first semester you will do clinicals at nursing homes learning CNA stuff- seriously, following CNA"s.

The second semester you will branch out to clinics and the nursing homes again- but this time you will follow only the RN/LVN's.

The third semester you are at the hospital- tah dah!! Rotating floors and departments, folowwing the RN/LVN's, oh and thats also when you will do your Cook Children's rotations, just an fyi.

The WC program was intense, its no joke. They train you do to well and you will have many opportunities to fail. However, you will push yourself in ways you never have before- and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you graduate will be very emotional

Thanks for the info PD82!!! How long were the clinicals? 8 or 12 hours? And just one day a week right?

The first 2 semesters are 8-12 hour Clinicals (depending on your site and your instructor) and when we finally started Clinicals it was 2 days a week- sometimes 3 days in third semester. One day a week was all skills class and the other days was classroom stuff. I wanna say that Friday was our half day, and nothing on the weekends.

Seems intense, and it is, but remember you follow the college school schedule so you get a week off in between semesters, holidays off, winter/spring break, etc-- and you will NEED that mental break!!

My advice- plan ahead for everything. Don't miss a day....ever!!!! You never know when a pop quiz worth a grade will happen, and any little thing can bring your grade down. You need a 75 or higher in each class and it's easy to fall behind. We lost many students due to stuff like that. Our class started with 35 and at graduation there were 14.
