Weatherford College fall 2014 adn applicants

Published

I am applying for WC this Dec/Jan for fall 2014 Rn program. I am going to re-take my teas this month to hopefully improve my score. If I get in I will be driving from Hurst. Hopefully it won't be too bad of a drive.

Specializes in Neuro/EMU, Pediatrics, Med Surg.
What book or website did you study? Also didn't you apply at some other schools? I remember you applied with me during the spring semester and you saying you were trying other places. I will have to apply for the LVN program along with the RN program as long as I do well on the TEAS. In the spring I was right on the line to not be picked. I hope and pray I do better on the TEAS and get in.

Yes I applied at El centro and WC nursing programs. I did not have enough points for either. I applied to WC lvn and I am currently an alternate.

Ive taken a handful more of classes so I am more hopeful for the Fall 2014 application.

To study for the compass I used the same book as the TEAS.

Naynay- never heard back from KL about new points. I guess I will have to wait until campus reopens. I haven't driven from keller but assume it'll be about an hour. Where is the new health building? The one they have now seems fairly new. Exciting ! I hope I get in!!!!

The WC website is updated with the new point system.

The new health building is behind the business office and testing center. It looks like it will have a few floors. I can't wait till April. I hope the time goes by fast. Maybe I should apply for the LVN program also. One of my sciences expire with this application period.

The specific points system being used currently is 48 maximum points. The pre & co-requisite classes are assigned points: A = 4, B = 3, & C = 1. The TEAS can get you up to 12 points total. 90-100 = 3, 80-89 = 2, & 70-79 = 1 for each section of the test. You can get 2 bonus points for 1314 or 1342 (college algebra & contemporary math) if you make a B or better. You can get 2 more bonus points for having residency in Parker or Wise county and 1 bonus point for Palo Pinto, Jack, or Hood County. The final bonus points available are for BSN classes, 3 extra points if you have 15+ hours of them & 4 extra points if you have 25+ hours of these classes completed. Not every BSN level class can be used it seems. Only these:

ENGL 1302, HIST 1301, HIST 1302, GOVT 2305, GOVT 2306, MATH 1314, MATH 1342, SPCH X3XX, CHEM X4XX, KINE X1XX, BIOL 1322, Humanities, and Visual/Performing Arts

although it is noted that a humanities or visual/performing arts is required already for the ADN so to get extra points for those, you would have to of had both a humanities & a visual/performing arts.

I just finished all of the classes I need and am getting ready to take my TEAS. Feeling REALLY nervous because I don't remember jack about earth sciences and all that primary school stuff. I have 32 points without the TEAS so I am really hopeful to get in with my first application for Fall!

Hope this helps :)

Considering it took 29 points to get in this last time Id say your looking pretty good!! Especially since there are more spots/campuses for the Fall :-)

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!!! I'm also applying to the Fall ADN program! I'm already applying to 3 other schools 2 BSN and another ADN. I have taken the HESI but not the TEAS. Can anyone inform me on their stats for their TEAS and what primary subject areas are covered for the different sections. I have completed all my prerequisites/corequisite/ and 25 + hours BSN corequisites besides Chemistry that I'm taking in the spring. I also have the 2 bonus points for math. In all I have 32 points before the TEAS. I'm going to take my TEAS mid Feb then drop off my packet with my scores after I'm done with the test. I'm eager and excited to see the outcome! I Pray I have enough points and do well on the TEAS.

I just got a chance to look over the new point system online. I'm a little confused…we don't get the points for humanities and our elective unless both are completed, correct? I have my elective completed but not humanities. If I added everything up correctly then I have 32 points before my TEAS score.

The TEAS covers Reading, Math, Science and English. I will be honest…the test is a killer and very difficult. The national average on most subjects is in the 60's. You can purchase the ATI study guide through amazon. I would recommend studying a lot for this test. I hope this information helps :)

@marmoon

WOW! I have similar guides that cover the TEAS subject areas and I'm also using Quizlet TEAS notes as well until my TEAS study guide come in the mail on wednesday. Until then I'm going to use quizlet. I'm aiming for at least a B in each section so I will be able earn 6 points from the TES. Although knowing at the national average is 60 I'm a little concerned lol..

@Marmoon

You are correct, you have to have both humanites/performing arts course completed to be able to get credit towards the ADN/BSN corequisite.

I emailed KL and asked her which course will be counted towards the ADN coreq and BSN coreq; I have an A in performing arts and B in humanities so I am hoping and wondering will my highest grade go towards the ADN coreq since that will get me at 32 for sure.

When are you taking the TEAS and what are you using to study for it? Have you been studying for it?

Thank you! I wonder since I don't have humanities if I can still even apply? I applied back in the Spring and didn't do so well on the TEAS. During the Spring semester they take less applicants so I'm hoping to do better on the TEAS this time and get accepted.

I'm using the TEAS book from ATI to study for it. I have also checked out a ton of books from the library to possibly help. I'm fine with math it's just the reading (I made a 70), science and english. You would think those subjects would't be so difficult but they are. I'm planning to take my TEAS sometime in Jan. I'm beginning to despise this test lol.
