Weatherford ADN Fall 2015

Published

Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a post for the 2015 Associates degree of Nursing Fall program at Weatherford College and see who else will be applying!

I have 31 points before my TEAS. I probably wont be taking it for a couple more months. I've finished all of my pre and co requisites and have my 15 hours of BSN credits so I'm super excited to finally be able to apply :)

I wonder what the point cut off will be this semester? I'm hoping to get at least 6 points off my TEAS but 8 would be great! Comment if you're applying this upcoming semester! Cant wait!

Wow that's an awful experience. I know some schools dislike it when students have to retake courses, could that have been it? Although I have to say that its a bad sign from if the staff isn't cooperating with you from the get go. That's a great thing about WC, that the staff is more than willing to be honest and answer questions and work with you. Is there any reason you are pursuing an ADN instead of a BSN, since it sounds like you have already completed your BSN prereqs?

UTA actually suggested that I retake courses. You are allowed to retake 4 of your courses and there were a few loophole classes (like subbing Art for Music). On the traditional route, there were 125 spots and 70 were reserved for preferred hospital employees. So the general public had 55 spots to fight over and 600+ applicants. On top of your science and cumulative GPA, they did considerations. You received considerations for taking 3 out of your 4 sciences at UTA or previously having a Bachelors degree. So if you had the same GPA as somebody and they had the considerations they got in over you. Transferring into that whole mess deterred me from the program.

I decided to pursue the ADN route for a few reasons, but mostly because I thrive better at a community college and the smaller setting. I'm a name and not a number. Then once I get my ADN, I can apply to the online RN to BSN and be done with it in 9 months. The RN to BSN program is less competitive then the BSN program and it's overall a cheaper route.

That is my plan as well. I have three classes more to take (along with receiving my adn) and I plan on applying to Texas Techs RN-BSN online program after I'm finished with weatherford adn. I might look into a couple other programs, but that one seems to fit my needs best.

I was looking into UTA's since I've already taken their intro to nursing, patho, and pharmacology, but it would be a good idea to see what else is out there. If this didn't work then I was going to pursue the second degree BSN from Texas Tech.

Just wanted to let everybody know that I took one for the team and did email KL this morning to see if we could get any updates on when letters should go out and what the points look like! I will let everybody know what's going on when I find out!!

"Letters should go out around mid-May. Ms. Livengood just started looking at the applications this week. Sorry, but we do not give out the points until after letters have been mailed." That is the exact response that I received from Karen!!

Ahh I wish they would let us know something about points.. I really hope that everyone here on all nurses gets accepted! I wonder when they will send the applications out to the BON... the sooner the better.

Thank you for taking one for the team! Maybe I'll bug her next week haha. But it dosent sound like their will be any new information for a few more weeks.

Thanks damonstreet! I was going to call and ask a couple of questions, so I will wait until Monday and see if I get any new info.

The suspense is killing me!! Once they submit the applications to the BON it will be another 2 weeks until letters go out.

Hopefully when the applications come back from the BON the letters will be sent out quickly... from what I understand they choose all the people who will be accepted and the alternates and just send those out to the BON. Ahh I hope the next 5 weeks goes by quickly!

Well I figured one of us had to take one for the team and it seems like I was the only one that hadn't so far lol!! Yeah I don't see any new information coming out of it except for maybe exactly when the letters do go out to the BON!! Yeah I turned my app in right at the end of the February so by the time we get the letters it will be around 10 weeks.....oh the anxiety haha!!!

Much appreciated damon.street, I will take that honor next if needed. soooooo nerve racking .
