Hi everyone just wanted to inform anyone who might be applying to WCCCD for this January or for Fall 2009. I attended an information meeting on September 10th and boy have they made some changes to the admission process. First off you must have completed 12 credits hours for January and future admissions. They changed this because students complained about their open door policy. Next the deadline dates have changed for Fall 2009 admissions the deadline date is February 26th and for January 2010 admissions June 30th. Next the NET scores and GPA requirements have changed. You must now have a mininum score of 59 on reading and a 2.8 GPA in Pre-Req's to be considered, Although most of us are already over that anyways. Now for the bigee admissions willbe based on a 100 point scale based on the following:Pre-Req's GPA, completion of Co-Req's courses, NET scores, essay, reference letters and prior health care experience. Even if you have transferred credits from another college you still most have the 12 credit hours at WCCCD. Hope this helps. These changes were a[pproved by the Michigan Board of Nursing! Question for anyone does anyone know how many people applied @ the September 15th application meeting just curious!
Lunden,
I am very anxious. I left the meeting Aug. 26 feeling like I forgot to do something. I did hear a lot of people saying the GPA would be lower this time. When I was waitiing to turn in my application I was peeking at the grade others had and I seen a lot of people applying with Cs. Not just one C but two or three. So I think our chances are much higher.
I completely understand where you are coming from when you say you are excited and scared. I am in the same boat. I hope October flies by so we can get our Happy Letters. Good Luck and hopefully we will be meeting in person in the next few months at orientation.
hey jellybean, just got your email. sneaky, sneaky:D but seriously i was trying to do the same thing. there is one girl i work with and me and her also compared gpa's. we have the same gpa but i have 3A's to her two A's. hate to be so competitive but i'm so scared and nervous right now. i've been studying the nursing math, just trying to get prepared. one more app. meeting and it's count down time!! i'm keeping my fingers crossed for you to, you seem like you would be cool to know. well, time to start stalking the mailbox:yeah:
hey sillyrabbit, one more day til countdown:D how u holding up?
Hi Lunden, I losing my mine with waiting again. I still so imtimidated for not getting in for Fall, because the GPA cutoff was so high. I guess I'm just scared that it will happen again. I really need to start in January, because I have nothing left to take. I also don't want to have to do the whole application process over again, because this was my second time applying. I also staying positive. Like everyone keeps telling me claim it and it's yours so I keep telling myself I got in. Good Luck to all the Spring 2009 Hopefuls. We will rock!
Hey I'm in the same boat as you all. I applied on sept. 15 and was shocked at the turnout, no more tha 50 people, I've read that maybe 60 was at the first meeting and 75 at the last. So that makes our chances even higher at getting in. Considering that 400 or 500 is the normal turnout! I have high hopes and now we just wait. Good luck to you all
Well September seemed to go by fast but October is taking forever. How is the waiting going for everyone? I'm going crazy waiting!I hope they have their stuff together and we get our letter at the beginning of November, sooner would be better:)
I agree 100%! October is lasting forever! I am hoping for an early November letter also. I'm fighting the temptation to call the nursing office and see how far along they are...
