Hi everyone just wanted to inform anyone who might be applying to WCCCD for this January or for Fall 2009. I attended an information meeting on September 10th and boy have they made some changes to the admission process. First off you must have completed 12 credits hours for January and future admissions. They changed this because students complained about their open door policy. Next the deadline dates have changed for Fall 2009 admissions the deadline date is February 26th and for January 2010 admissions June 30th. Next the NET scores and GPA requirements have changed. You must now have a mininum score of 59 on reading and a 2.8 GPA in Pre-Req's to be considered, Although most of us are already over that anyways. Now for the bigee admissions willbe based on a 100 point scale based on the following:Pre-Req's GPA, completion of Co-Req's courses, NET scores, essay, reference letters and prior health care experience. Even if you have transferred credits from another college you still most have the 12 credit hours at WCCCD. Hope this helps. These changes were a[pproved by the Michigan Board of Nursing! Question for anyone does anyone know how many people applied @ the September 15th application meeting just curious!

When does the new mininum on the Reading portion of the NET test start?
It will start for Fall 2009 admissions. Meaning you would need that score on your NET by the February 26th Deadline.

did you get any info for spring 09
I haven't heard of how many people were at the september 15th application meeting. The only thing that is required for Spring 09 is the 12 credits hours everything else doesn't take affect until the Fall 09 admission term.
my friend applied on sept. 15 and was there for about 20 minutes. she said there were maybe 30 people but more people where coming in as she was leaving. she said that the sept. 15 meeting was set up differently than the aug. 26 meeting. the sept. meeting had two lines one to get the application and one to turn it in. she said there were about three to four people there making sure people had all their stuff when turning it in. i wish there were people there to do that at the aug 26 meeting.
hey just wanted you to know i was at the aug.26th meeting to and i left feeling like i still forgot to fill out something on the app. the waiting has been a killer. i was wondering how many people had applied on sept.15 and how many will be applying on the 30th. it seems to be a very low turn out applying for the spring of 09 must be because of the 12 credit policy. good luck to you as well as your friend, who knows hopefully we'll all get in for jan 2009, i wouldn't mind having some friends whose going to be going through the same thing.
Hi Lunden, Jellybean had posted that on Sept. 15 her friend attended and 30 people were there, but she said her friend stated that people were still coming in as she left. My friend is going on Sept 30th so I will let you know how many she said are applying. The turnout does seem lower, but we have to take in consideration all of those people who are reapplying like me. I applied for fall this semseter so I am praying for a miracle. I have been having mightmare while waiting. I just don't want to be that same disappointing letter as I did this pass July. Is this your first time applying? I just really hope and pray that the GPA cutoff is not 3.7 again, because that is crazy. I least hope I am an alternate this time so I could have something to lookk forward to. And yes I am looking for friends to go through the experience with me. I wonder what GPA's is applying that's what's getting to me. I have a 3.52 it went down a little, because I got an B in Med Math. I applied the first time with a 3.53 not much, but you'll be surprised at what 1 point will do. I just look at it like all those who apllied for this Fall and got in had between 3.7's and 4.0's and alternates had 3.6's my friend was an alternate and she said the lowest was a 3.61 so I try and think of it like all those people reapplying have less. Good Luck Sorry, but I just had to vent. So much to think about.

Does anyone know when we can expect to hear something about Jan 09 entry??????
They said by 1st of November
hey jellybean, i applied for the fall in 2007 and did not get in because my gpa was way low, i'm talking 4 c's and 1 b in a&p2. so mrs.N told me i wasn't even competing academically (hope i spelled that right) well anyways, i took 4 classes over and made 3 A's and 1 b, so i have a 3.5 in prereq. and i think only a 2.6 gpa overall. but when i talked to a lady in the nursing office, she told me that having a medical background and if you have taken all your classes with them will help. (i have been a dialysis tech for 14 years) she said they were considering their students first then transfer students (if there are any, because many missed the deadline) in 2007 the gpa cutoff was 3.4 and 3.7 for the fall because of all the transfer students and i heard from a nurse in this forum (don't remember who) who says she doubts if the gpa is that high for spring 09 (maybe like 3.4 again hopefully) but will go back up for fall 09 because of the transfer students returning. so it sounds like we have a good chance for spring 09 because of wccc enforcing the transfer rule. whew, gotta catch my breath!!! i'm just so excited and scared at the same time that when the letter comes i;m going to pass out!!! pleeezze write back with your thoughts
Hi Lunden, You feel excatly like I do. Our chances do look good for Spring 09 Whew Who! I'm claiming it but at the same time I don't know. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. I guess I'm still imtimdated from the Fall 08 term. I was told that they won't start looking at healthcare experience until the Fall of 09. If they are looking at in now then that's even better. Good Luck and I hope we can be in the same classes so we can work together. :yeah:I just don't what to do with myself while I wait. I guess I'll start Christmas shopping to keep my mind of the wait, but I'm excited just for the fact that October is almost here.
