Hi I'm starting this thread for all those who were accepted to the nursing program at WCCCD fall 2014, or anyone who is currently in the program. We can post any questions or comments leading up to or during the program to help each other out. Good luck evryone!!
I already have my CPR card, but I think it was through the AHA. I haven't heard anything about the one offered at WCCCD. This has been a rush getting everything done in time, but I just finished today I'm just excited to start now
I don't know where this place is but my school only accepts AHA. So you should make sure because a lot of places all over I've heard is doing this as well. I had Red Cross and had to redo it through AHA.

I took at my doctors office. From what it seems, many have their own 10 panel test so make sure that you have your list with you. I had to go back 4 times because they did not test for the correct things, the wrong tubes were used or the lab just didnt do it. Its been a nightmare!!! Plus...my insurance did not cover all the test and i got a bill for $444 for all drug tests and the titers!!! I hope you have started it already because some of them can take a week to come back.
I got my drug test done last Friday . When I originally called they told me that I could get the results back in the same day and that it was $25. But when I get there it was $35 and it took two business days! So they faxed over the results but forgot to send the specific gravity section of the test! So I've been going back and forth with the testing site and the school trying to get the documents submitted!! You have no idea how frustrated and annoyed I was!!! I was the messenger going backing and forth!! The site said they faxed over the documents the school they didn't get it. The site wanted the school to call them and talk to them directly but the school said they don't do stuff like that!! It was crazy!!!!
And yea I too got a bill for my titer for over $400!!! Seriously what's the point of having insurance if they don't cover simple things like this?!?!?!?! But to go I got everything submitted finally and I'm going to call the dean to make sure I have everything in and that I'm all set on my end. But yea I know exactly what you mean by a nightmare!!!!! I truly went through one and it was not fun.
HI all! I am brand new to the site! i just got accepted into the fall 2014 nursing program at WCCCD! thanks for the blog. i have actually been following it, but havent signed up for the site till now! the only bummer I had is that the same week i found out I was accepted to the program, I also found out i was pregnant with baby number 3. apparently a higher power thinks i can handle it?! anwyay the Dean called me last night at 6 pm because she was curious about my due date, and since its thanksgiving day she was concerned that I might not be able to do my clinicals. she told me i could take a leave of absence and take the second half of the first semester in march. wow, im rambling, but I did think it was great that they are willing to work with me! hope to meet my other classmates soon! see you all at the orientation
I brought my list to the dr office for my drug test and somehow they still did not test for creatine. So I'm on my way to the dr to get that one done. I feel like such a doof, but thank the lord they called me and are giving me a shot to re do it.
I brought in the sheet to my doctors office and they also forgot to test me for specific gravity, so frustrating! The dean of nursing is letting me bring it in by next week thankfully because I would of been so upset! This was definitely a stressful situation for me too, can't wait for the program;)
I experienced the same thing!! And I just wanted to cry I was so irritated and frustrated. I went to the site the the nursing had flyers for, when I went there they asked me was I from wccccd school and I said yea, so I assumed she knew what the school needed as far a the requirements for the drug testing. But I found out a couple days later that the forgot to the the specific gravity test. I should have double check before I let the site to make sure before hand, this was deffienly an learning experience.
